Fruits of a New Years Resolution
12 years 5 months ago
Last year I promised to spend less energy on racing and all the bullshit that goes along with it. Too much time spent on debating and pushing for things to happen but there was absolutely no return on investment, psychologically emotionally and of course from a punting point of view financially.
I still pop in to ABC to have a look. It seems unfortunately with the demise of the other forums, there is only one place to have a go at everything in racing. Not a good thing IMO, it was better before when ABC was everything from the Death Knell to Vaseline and the rest and the competition were racing's saviours. No direspect to the other sites or their members and proprietors but at least the lines were drawn and one could choose where you wanted to be associated. I wonder how many who ran this, the "Johnny Black" of racing forums, down are now fully integrated members of the forum? Those who know the history of these forum will all probably know what I am on about and if you don't you are new to racing forums! Anyway a general comment is that the Johnny Black has probably watered down a bit. I still have the greatest respect for Dave and Robert for putting up with the shite on a daily basis but they are stayers and they do a good job managing the mayhem. This place is still a blank canvass and you can't shift blame onto nothing (blank page) really, they can only manage so much. The responsibility is on you posters to respect yourself, them, others and this site buy thinking before you post. There is a lot wrong man but hey, being hateful does not cure the pain!
Back to the topic, fruits of a new years resolution. What have I been doing now that I don't analyse posts think hard about them and then write long stories on ABC, well I have turned back to my music hobby. I was in a garage band 15 Years ago. The members split up and are all over the world. The guitarist is the only one I have real contact with. We started on an email based recording project in April 2012 and things have progressed well in time.
So what are the fruits of the New Years Resolution? You decide....

Mike, I am blues / blues rock man Mike.. Zepplin, Hendrix, Skip James Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, ZZ top Doors, Black Keys, Pearl Jam is my thing.. Busy Listening to Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac at the moment.
Paul Simon did that album with Ladysmith Black Mambaso and it has that real South African sound going on there with the guitar and penny whistle. Not something I would be covering (
).
Cheers Scotia - shot for allowing a bit of self promotion on the forum.
-D. Hope you took a listen to the Johnny Cash cover of hurt on my Sound Cloud page. It has got close on 1000 listens from every from SA to Iran to Russia and Chile. Most listens are based in the US though. Pretty cool for a hobby I think.Better return than watching racing crumble (Chainsaw now out, what the hell man?)
