I think we are talking here about horses already racing in Singapore - that would be the only realistic option imo - if you get a 2yr old who is going to take (say) 9 months before his first run, you are already behind +/- R150 k - thats a lot of 'start up' cost - even with the potential of making a profit on it::o

I thought I would mention that the Maiden Plate prize money mentioned above is the lowest class of racing open to all horses. We do however have a Restricted Maiden Plate open only to horses who have their first start in Singapore and here the prize money is S$65 000 or R450 000 (R220 000 to the winning owner). An equivalent Benchmark 85 (a Class 3 here) is more than R500 000 and a top division just over R850 000 so yes - something definitely worth looking at.

I've mentioned this before but all horses are given an opportunity to race throughout the year with around 950 races staged between the turf and polytrack and despite the heavy rainfall that we experience here, the last time a meeting was cancelled (and that was prior to the polytrack when the track just washed away) was around 10 years ago.

Update on some horses I know of that is available:

Darien Gap:

Darien Gap - 15% left 1250/share

profile - A nice stayer in the making and potentially will be Premier Racing Partnerships first derby runner. A last start winner by 5 lengths, this guy has really hit his straps in his last 4 runs and we believe the older and more wiser he gets the better he will be, He has always been a little lazy and quite immature but in his last four runs his work his demeanor around the stables and more importantly his ability to switch on on race day has just happened. The future for this guy is endless in our view and we are very excited about his further.

WEIGHT : 530 kg’s (-2)

STABLE COMMENT :
He put in a great performance on last Sunday for a super victory, congratulations again on your win! He has pulled up well and hasn’t put a foot wrong since. He has eaten every put in front of him (meaning he has come through the race well) and remains rock hard fit.

FUTURE PLANS :
Steve has pencilled him in for a 2400m Open Benchmark 74 turf race on January 27. We look forward to him building his work in the next week or so and we are confident of him getting the extra distance.

Dazzling Dame:

WEIGHT : 511 kg’s (+2)

STABLE COMMENT :
She has been ticking over nicely in the past week and hasn’t put a foot wrong. We are looking forward to getting her onto the turf track. She looks good in condition and Steve is happy with how she pulled up from her last start.

FUTURE PLANS :
She will be entered for a turf race on either January 18 or 20 and it is fair to say we are looking for a much improved effort.

Breaking Vaults:

Breaking Vaults - 25% left 1250/share

Unraced gelding who looks a lovely miler and above horse in the making, Trialled last week in Singapore and ran second which in our view was better than expected as we believe he wont get really warm until he starts racing over the longer distances. Has adapted to the Singapore lifestyle really well and is a horse loaded with ability. another who will just get better with age. he should be racing within the fortnight and we are expecting some big things from this guy..

WEIGHT : 520 kg’s (-5)

STABLE COMMENT :
He trialled last Thursday the January 10 and galloped nicely albeit in a slow trial. His barrier manners were impeccable and everything looked good with him. He has lost 5 kg’s in the past week or so which means his fitness is improving as he gets closer to his debut race. He pulled up well from the trail and Steve is happy with his progress.

FUTURE PLANS :
We will assess his condition over the next few days and we will find a suitable race for him.

Benji's Empire:

Benji 's Empire - 23 % left 1250/share

profile - A very talented gelding who is embarking on his first international campaign which starts tomorrow night over 1000m - he is a horse with a load of ability and one that has no where near met his mark yet. His second last run in Singapore he ran 5th in a group 2 and then came 2nd to a group 2 winner from Australia in Running Tall, The main aim in Dubai will be on the 31st of Jan over his preferred 1400m where he should get left alone in front and and hopefully break their hearts and win.. from there we will monitor his progress and either return home or race in more races in Dubai and if he goes better than expected then we will aim for a race on the International night where the meeting is worth a total of 8 million..
Trainer: Steven Burridge
The Singaporean shippers galvanized the Carnival last year. Steven Burridge brought three
horses to Dubai – Ip Man, Dark Matter, and Captain Obvious – all three winning at first asking
on the local circuit. Of course, none of them were actually returning off a layoff, rather,
continuing their seasonal campaigns from Singapore. Essentially, they were much more wellprepared
making their first local starts. This gelding by King Charlemagne is 7-for-39 in his
Singaporean career, with all starts coming on the all-weather.
He races with prominence, a major factor in his favor at Meydan, and six of his seven lifetime
wins at Kranji came making every call of the running, with all six coming over 1,400 meters. It’s
brutally difficult to compare times, but this guy seems to be able to get a nice cruising gallop
going and last, while getting over the Kranji Polytrack in relatively quick order. Burridge has
often employed apprentice riders to partner Benji’s Empire, and he’s frequently carried 50-54
kilograms, something unlikely to happen in the competitive Meydan Tapeta handicaps. Ignore
him at your own peril during the Carnival.

Darien Gap is running in the next 30 minutes 13:50 at Kranji and a very good run expected from him with top Singapore jockey on board.

Darien Gap is earmarked for Derby and there are still shares in him available for those interested.

I would see Darian Gap still improve further and they where close to breaking the fastest time over the 2400 ever

www.turfclub.com.sg/MediaCenter/RacingNe...twitter#.UQTsRKU6Htc

Post race report of darien Gap.

Well darien gap ran over the 2400m for his first time and he surely didnt let anyone down. he ran a great second and in my thoughts i really think the jockey thought he was a good thing and rode him a little to kind. As we saw the day when alan munro rode him to victory that you really do need to get going on this horse from the 700m and the fact that he didnt showed us that while he only just got beat there is still plenty of improvement.

He has pulled up so very well from the run and this horse just keeps showing us how tough he is. There is another race for him on the 24th of Feb over the same distance and this will be the race we target him at. We may give him one run in between times just to tick him over more than likely over a mile but the main aim will be the 2400m race.

The horse who beat us yesterday has had 6 starts over the 2400m for 5 wins so while we got beat we were certainly not disgraced and we really believe we have a derby contender for the future here.

Trust you guys all had a great day and look forward to seeing as many as we can at the stable BBQ day this saturday.

regards
