Ownership in Singapore
12 years 5 months ago
Owning a horse in a syndicate in Singapore is REALLY easy.
I am not making ANY money on this guys purely getting the word out to you if any is interested so that I can help out the trainer in selling the shares
If anyone is interested please PM me: (S$1 = approx R7.20)
Some more info on the horses
Benji 's Empire - 23 % left S$1250/share
profile - A very talented gelding who is embarking on his first international campaign which starts tomorrow night over 1000m (Dubai on the Meydan Track) - he is a horse with a load of ability and one that has no where near met his mark yet. His second last run in Singapore he ran 5th in a group 2 and then came 2nd to a group 2 winner from Australia in Running Tall, The main aim in Dubai will be on the 31st of Jan over his preferred 1400m where he should get left alone in front and hopefully break their hearts and win.. from there we will monitor his progress and either return home or race in more races in Dubai and if he goes better than expected then we will aim for a race on the International night where the meeting is worth a total of $8 million..
Darien Gap - 15% left 1250/share
profile - A nice stayer in the making and potentially will be Singapore derby runner. A last start winner by 5 lengths (this week), this guy has really hit his straps in his last 4 runs and we believe the older and more wiser he gets the better he will be, He has always been a little lazy and quite immature but in his last four runs his work his demeanor around the stables and more importantly his ability to switch on on race day has just happened. The future for this guy is endless in our view and we are very excited about his further.
Breaking Vaults - 25% left 1250/share
Unraced gelding who looks a lovely miler and above horse in the making, Trialled last week in Singapore and ran second which in our view was better than expected as we believe he wont get really warm until he starts racing over the longer distances. Has adapted to the Singapore lifestyle really well and is a horse loaded with ability. another who will just get better with age. he should be racing within the fortnight and we are expecting some big things from this guy..
We also have some 2 year olds available but they are still two months away from racing so i would rather talk about those horses once we get closer to the mark and we know more about their ability..

Sorry missed that thx for asking Shrek. The TOTAL inclusive monthly fees (training, keeping, vet, etc) is $45-00 a month per 1% (R300 roughly) That equates to R30k per month for the 100% share - not sure how that as an all inclusive fee compares to SA but it sounds a bit on the high side ?? For me only owning a % it does not bother me but please let me know your thoughts, not sure how it compares to SA

Hi everyone. Just to clarify a couple of points re training costs in Singapore. The costs quoted by Loopy are not actually correct. The basic training fee as set by the Singapore Turf Club is S$ 2500 per month or S$25-00 per 1%. That equates to a basic training fee of around R17500-00 (R175-00 per 1%) per month (based on an exchange rate of R7-00 to the Sing dollar). Then you have your extras such as vets and farrier fees which are charged at cost plus 10% so work on around S$2800 per month.
Don't forget the S$900 per runner rebate for all runners with the exception of 1st and last (10 runners or less) or 1st, last and second last (11 runners or more). This rebate is deducted off your monthly training bill so should your horse run twice in a month you get get a bill of S$1000!
Hope that having looked at the affordability of racing in Singapore and the great prize money, I'll have an influx of owners from South Africa soon. If anyone needs any info, please feel free to email me at Debra_hawkins@turfclub.com.sg.

Re: Re: Ownership in Singapore

Not had my coffee yet but we are looking at around $4500 train to win $35000 so eight times
In SA we are R6000 to win R50000 also around eight times
So if you win a maiden in Singapore or SA the horse paid for Jan to August?
Hope calculation ok?
In the UK if not mistaken you are lucky to get 2 months ?
Maybe someone can confirm?

I think you need your coffee first Dave. In Singapore it's $2500-00 to win $35 000 so 14 times (obviously less because that's the total prize money as quoted for both SA and Singapore) and the most important thing to remember here is the Rewards Incentive of $900 per runner (outlined in my earlier post) which reduces your training fees considerably.

Let's not forget the cost of getting a horse to Singapore.....if I recall a SA horse is around 150k?Also quarantine time on both sides as well as training before a first run is minimum of 7 to 8 months?
