hi chippy..how is it that overseas u hardly see rubbish like we put up with at the start here..kzn is particularly bad..they are horribly slower than other centres..but false starts and horses breaking through seems to be happening so regularly over the last 6 months its become a joke

JV i think the UK stalls are harder to open,if a horse comes through the front in the uk it is automatically withdrawn

@JV, quite simple really... Mostly underpaid, under trained, casual staff AND some in charge won't change with the times or listen to suggestions. A little "Power" goes the wrong way and too many cooks spoil the broth, we have 3 Starters!!! 1 is head and shoulders above the others and is well respected by the jockeys
International staff are trained and on permanent salaries who are horseman that work with horses EVERY day and know the horses best starting procedure
They also don't become flustered under pressure.
I have brought this same topic up over the years and Although EVERYBODY has been affected at some time, nobody wants to do anything about...
KZN has the WORST start, it is a pleasure to start in Zim and Kimberley. Both centres supposedly meant to have the worst behaved horses.
All starting staff should also re-apply for a license and their performance monitored.
There are only 5 handlers and 1 starter that I trust to do their jobs properly EVERY kzn meeting...
