I'm Confused

I have just phoned a well known bookmaker in UK and asked for £10 ew on a 50/1 horse..
I was told by lady on the phone that since November 1st the minimum phone transaction was £25.
Ok I said,I will have £12.50 ew on the horse.
That's ok but I need to refer the bet to a trader,who came back and offered me £5-00 ew...
I hung the phone up in amazement and looked at the number I dialled to make sure I wasn't dialling Mr.Bean Bookmakers.
Have you ever heard of anything as stupid as that

The funniest i seen lately was when i withdrew some cash back to my bank,got an email saying that they were holding the funds for 6 hours just incase i changed my mind about the withdrawel lol
