Placed Horses paying R1-00

I am getting right fed up with the place payouts lately.

Last week I bet a 5/1 shot which ran a place and paid R1-00, what happens if you bet a Horse for a place and it ends up paying R1-00, but does not find a place?

Do we get our money back, as it should be classed as a No Bet, as the Punter does not stand to win whether the Horse is placed or not.

Today I took a place Treble Weather Report R2.2 a place Levitation which was claimed into 3/1 ( last show that I saw) pays R1-00', with the Bookies it would be 6/10 a drum but on the Tote one gets their money back and Zulu King still to run in R9

The other day there was no fewer than 4 horses at one meeting paying R1-00 which IMHO is totally ludicrous , so I ask again, in this situation if the horse runs downfield are we entitled to a refund?

They should ammend the minimum payout to 1.1 ,or when a horses price gets below 1.1 bets should be automatically refused

Surely the tote can pay to 2 decimal place R1.08 and so on. How much do they steal daily with horses paying R2,49 being rounded down to R2,40.

I agree with Hibs, a horse should pay a minimum of R1-10 if it runs a place

If unplaced, then No the bet should not be refunded, and if it does run a place, well, you being refunded your outlay... R6.00 @ R1.00 a place = R6.00

However, agreed min place should be R1.10 so that there is some sort of gain...
6/10 at the books sounds decent, 60% return on your initial outlay, no bank will give you that...

ships gossip you must understand when betting on the tote that they taking 25% out of the pools,and because the pools are relatively small on win and place bets,there simply is no value if any fancied horse arrives.maybe if the powers that be can compromise and take a smaller % out of the pools then more punters will punt with the tote and thus make it more enticing for the punters,but unfortunately i dont see that happening so its best to take the fixed odds with the bookies where you know exactly what to expect if your horses arrive.
