I am in Joburg, the land of milk and honey, I am in the northern suburbs, the land of electric fences and money... But I cant afford the hard copies computaforms like my fellow clanners...I must be missing something.

Don I have just asked one of the youngest at my office to help me with the burning of the CD ( I dont know how to do it:S). Let me know if you need the fotoforms as well. I have it all filed in a very systematic manner.

Oh by the way Don, if you fetch it today, you will get three freebies.... The Computaforms for Wed, Thursday and Friday. Now that is a superdeal. And if you speak to me nicely I will even mark the cards for you with all the winners.... No, on second thoughts, I dont think you want me to do that, you better off without them my friend.

My wife would be over the moon, but I'm sort of hesitant, also have this vague notion of using them 'someday' for research / analysis - so if I may ask what does your project entail, and is there a way that I could perhaps assist?

I need to go into the garage to check. but at a guess I would say more than 10 boxes (but no more than 20) - they differ in size, but generally I would say about 50 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm

PM me if you need to know more.

@Frodo, The Thoroughpedia Project: we completed the skeleton research for the Queen's Plate recently, currently working on The Durban July and guess will try to take on the Summer Cup in the future. We are trying and hoping everyone in the industry will help us build the heritage. Here is a cutting from the Queen's Plate site www.queensplate.info which showcases Thoroughpedia's skeleton research (under construction)

"The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a person."

The Racehorse – also known as the Thoroughbred – has been bred for over 300 years with a simple objective, of winning the greatest races. The horses that win the important races embody the most desired qualities, and from this group have come the stallions who have shaped the breed.

Behind the drama and excitement of the contest – and the poetic magnificence of the horses – is some unyielding science. The weight carried by the horse, relative to its competitors, has a measurable effect on the outcome of the race. The drag effect of weight (in other words, weight slows the horse down) varies, depending upon the distance of the race.

This science underlies the practice of handicapping, but it is not widely understood, even by professionals in the sport.

The other great athletes in this sport are the jockeys, some of whom have ridden competitively into their sixties. Many of the world’s top jockeys are in their forties and fifties. Name another sport with athletes who keep their bodies in peak shape for this long.

Horse Racing is a sport with a great heritage. We aim to make this heritage accessible, by recording decades of photographs, race results, statistics, memories and video footage.

Thoroughpedia is a privately funded project with ambitious aims. This website, for South Africa’s most important 1600 metre race, is our first, small step. Thank you for joining us on our journey.

“Know the game, love the game
.”

so, at the moment, I have a couple of gaps in the Durban July - seeking official photofinishes of :
02 July 2005 Dunford
06 July 2002 Ipi Tombe
07 July 2001 Trademark
01 July 2000 El Picha
03 July 1999 El Picha
05 July 1997 Super Quality
06 July 1991 Flaming Rock
