ANOTHER FEATURE FOR LEGENDARY SIRE

The great Jet Master, who has been champion sire in South Africa six times, had his 47th individual stakes winner when daughter Halfway to Heaven won Saturday’s Gr3 Prix Du Cap.

Jet Master has now been represented by over 100 black type performers, including such G1 winners and champions as Pocket Power, J J The Jet Plane, River Jetez, Ebony Flyer, Past Master and Floatyourboat.

As is to be expected, the champion covered some truly exceptional mares during the final years of his stud career, and the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale offers buyers a rare chance to purchase an exquisitely bred son or daughter of the mighty Jet Master. He has 27 yearlings on sale – and they are bound to prove very popular.

Lot 29 is a colt out of a stakes placed half-sister to three black type performers, including the outstanding filly Disco Queen. This is the family of champion Basic Instinct.

Lot 62 is a sister to 4 winners. Her dam is the Fillies Guineas winner Pacific Blue, a daughter of leading broodmare sire Model Man.

Lot 66 is a half-brother to the useful Laurie’s Gold, and is out of Elliodor’s G2 winning daughter Park Lane. His second dam is the high-class racemare, Hancock Park.

Lot 104 is a filly whose dam is an own sister to G1 winner Sport’s Chestnut (dam of Jet Master’s G1 son, Sports Coach). This is the family of the great Horse Chestnut.

Lot 158 is a half-brother to a winner and the promising once raced For the Lads. His dam is a stakes winning daughter of the G1 mare Tight Drums. This is the family of G1 winners Planetary Music and Drum Star.

Lot 167 is a brother to a winner. He is out of a G1 placed mare, and is from the family of Jet Master’s high-class performers, Jet Jamboree, Love is In The Air and Careful Landing.

Lot 185 is a brother to a winner, and a half-brother to G1 filly Felix The Cat. His dam is a stakes placed half-sister to the high-class G2 winner Battle of Hastings.

Lot 202 is a own brother to a four time winner. His dam is a three parts sister to 10 time G3 winner Rock Lobster.

Lot 219 is a filly out of the G3 placed daughter of Elliodor, this is the family of high-class stayer Ile Maurice.

Lot 233 is a colt out of Fort Wood’s G1 winning daughter Urabamba. This is the family of the brilliant Topa Inca, as well as the likes of Envy and Enforce.

Lot 250 is a half-brother to 5 winners, including the G3 placed Amur Affair. His dam is an own sister to G1 winner Fair Maiden, and this colt has a lot of Secretariat in his bloodlines!

Lot 252 is a half-sister to the G1 placed stakes winner Kiss Again. His dam is a half-sister to 3 black type performers, and second dam is champion Kiss of Peace.

Lot 268 is a colt out of the G1 winner Zaitoon, from the high-class family responsible for G1 winners Chief’s Crown, Winning Colors and Sightseek to name a few.

Lot 283 is a half-sister to 3 winners, one of which has won four. Her dam is a half-sister to a stakes winner, and a three parts sister to champion Succesful Bidder. This is the family of champion broodmare Loyal Linda.

Lot 296 is a full sister to the G1 filly Jet Trail. They are out of the top-class racemare Azabu Park, who won 10 races, and was G1 placed.

Lot 319 is a half-brother to black type performers, who won 11 between them. He is out of a stakes placed mare from the family of champion Up The Creek.

Lot 332 is a half-brother to two stakes horses, and to two other winners. His dam was a G2 winning daughter of Caesour, and his second dam won the Ladies Mile.

Lot 334 is a half-sister to two stakes placed winners, and three other winners. Her dam is a G1 Goldmark mare, who is a half-sister to G2 winner, and top sprinter, Black Skimmer.

Lot 335 is a half-sister to a winner. Her dam is the G2 winner Chant de Nuit, by leading broodmare sire Caesour, and this is the famous Golden Amber family.

Lot 347 is a daughter of two champions. By Jet Master, she is out of champion 2yo Consensual, a half-sister to G2 winner Dance Along. This is the family of G1 winner In Camera.

Lot 350 is a colt whose dam is a six time winning, stakes placed sister to G1 winner Copper Parade. This is the famous Bourtai family, responsible for such as French G1 winner Cavalryman.

Lot 356 is a colt, whose dam is a Fort Wood half-sister to 2 stakes horses. His second dam won the Paddock Stakes, and is a half-sister to two other G1 winners.

Lot 471 is a brother to 2 winners, and a half brother to the useful, G2 placed Count Express. His dam is a G3 winner by Jallad, and his second dam is Natal Oaks heroine Tainberry.

Lot 507 is a by a champion out of a champion. His dam, Lady Windermere, was champion 3yo filly, when she won both the G1 Garden Province Stakes and G1 SA Fillies Sprint. A daughter of Western Winter, Lady Windermere is from the family of champion Classic Flag.

Lot 508 is a half-brother to a winner. His dam, by Al Mufti, is an own sister to G1 winner and producer Lady Brompton. This is the famous Soho Secret family, which has produced the likes of Pluck, Promisefrommyheart, Covenant and London News.

Lot 527 is a colt whose dam is by world leading sire and broodmare sire Indian Ridge. The dam is a half-sister to 2 black type performers, and the dam of the very classy Aljamaaheer. This is the world class family of G1 winners Cerulean Sky, Moonstone and Arctique Royale.

Lot 535 is a filly whose dam is a winning daughter of SA Oaks winner Daddy’s Darling. This is the family of multiple stakes winner Orkney Islands.

We are now in the build up to the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale and are very excited about our catalogue which is chock a block with blue blooded yearlings waiting to be unearthed in the annual yearling pickers convention.
From yearlings from the last crop of champion Jet Master to promising unproven stallions, the 2013NYS catalogue has something for every buyer. This is the last National Yearling Sale where the progeny of Jet Master will be sold and is the last opportunity to acquire one of the great breed shaping sire’s offspring. We are well represented by leading stallions Var, Silvano,Dynasty, Trippi, Captain Al and Fort Wood as well as by some exciting second season sires like Sail from Seattle, Rebel King, Jay Peg and Judpot. Some of the new boys on the block like Mambo in Seattle, Ideal World , AP Answer are already setting tongues wagging already…

The social calendar around NYS13 is starting to fill up - there will be a Golf Day on the afternoon Tues 23rd April where we will raise money for the NHT. Gary Player has agreed to be the Patron Saint of our fund raising golf days and although he can’t make this golf day he will be at the 2 yr old Sale Golf Day. Wilgebosdrift will be holding a Sales party on the Wednesday night , and the Grade 1 Awards will be held on the Thursday night at Emperors Palace as usual. Please remember to book your place for racing at Champions Day on the Saturday, it will be a cracker of a day.

Lastly we will be doing a special tribute to the legend Jet Master and his final crop ever to be sold on a National Yearling Sale, an emotional moment in our history. This tribute will serve as the opening to the sale at 9.30am on Friday 26th April and hope you will all attend.
Well done to the breeders for bringing together such a world class collection of thoroughbreds – and now it is up to the discerning buyers to uncover the next Dynasty or Princess Victoria, Ebony Flyer or Aslan.

TELLINA SIBLING A STANDOUT!

While there are a large number of exceptionally well bred horses on offer at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, there is no doubt that lot 202, who looks a standout himself, will grab plenty of attention.

Consigned by Maine Chance Farms, this striking bay colt has been named Time Odyssey.

He is a son of six times champion sire Jet Master, himself the sire of no fewer than 18 G1 winners. Jet Master’s Gr1 winners include champions Pocket Power, Mythical Flight, Ebony Flyer, River Jetez and the mighty J J The Plane.

Time Odyssey is out of the Spectrum mare Tachina, and is a sibling to 5 winners. These winners include this season’s outstanding 3yo Tellina, winner of the Gr2 Gauteng Guineas and runner up in the Gr1 SA Classic.

To date, Tellina (himself a R210 000 buy at the 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale) has won over R1 000 000 in prize money, and is clearly one of the leaders of his generation. His dam is a daughter of Spectrum – a stallion who has made a huge impact with his broodmare daughters.

Top-class runners produced by Spectrum mares include such high-class performers as international G1 winners Dutch Art, Moonlight Cloud, Winchester, Sangster and Cedarberg.

Tachina is from an outstanding female line whose members include champion Old Vic (French Derby, Irish Derby) and 2000 Guineas winner High Top (a leading sire).

Time Odyssey is a colt with a truly world-class and international calibre pedigree. He is not to be missed!
