Klawervlei’s exciting young sire, Jay Peg, was represented by his first winner on Monday, when Olympic Owen bolted home on debut to win by over ten lengths
Jay Peg has made a fine start with his first runners this season. His sole other starter, Pegwell Bay, ran second on debut – and Jay Peg could hardly have made a better start to his fledgling stud career.
South Africa’s all time leading money earner, Jay Peg won over R40 000 000 during his illustrious career. His ten wins included two of the world’s top races – the Gr1 Dubai Duty Free, and Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup.
Named Equus Champion Classic Horse in 2007, Jay Peg won the Cape’s two classic races at three, to stamp himself as the best of his generation. He won four feature races during his 3yo campaign, including the Gr1 Cape Derby and Gr1 Cape Guineas.
A high-class juvenile who won three of five starts as a juvenile, Jay Peg is a son of the ill-fated A P Indy horse Camden Park, also sire of such Gr1 winners as Consensual and English Garden.
The well bred and imposing looking Jay Peg is out of the wonderful Al Mufti mare Laptop Lady. The latter is the dam of three black type performers, and has also really excelled in the sales ring.
Laptop Lady has produced three yearlings, in the past three yearlings, to fetch R1 000 000 plus – which is a superb record for any mare.
This is the wonderful Let Kiss family responsible for such high-class performers as Whiteline Fever, Leopard Strike, National Title and Dash For Gretna.
He stands for a stud fee of R10,000.
