The Equine Caster
12 years 5 months ago
Tuesday's Child owned and trained by Romeo Francis who won a race at the Vaal on 13 December 2012 has now earned the dubious title of the Equine "Caster Semenya" . Romeo was perplexed when she returned with VERY high testosterone levels and knowing that he hadn't doped the filly insisted that the test results were incorrect and had the horse checked out fully again, when these tests also revealed extraordinary levels of testosterone the reason was revealed Tuesday's Child has male organs which accounts for the high levels of testosterone found in the filly.
This condition has been with this filly since birth and a vet has confirmed that her testosterone levels would always be elevated because of this. Strange but true......
There are however some questions that need to be raised here notably why were these high testosterone levels not picked up when the filly won a race whilst in the Cape under the care of Mike Bass on 22 February 2012? It is a fact that there is no question of her elevated testo levels throughout her career so why was this not picked up ? Are the NHA treating bigger stables differently to smaller yards? There is quite simply no plausible reason for the NHA not to have picked this up ages ago....

Who did the test in the Cape and how did she pass(if there was a test)? That person should be fired if they did not pick that up - The integrity of Racing is in question here and that is a Major problem that the Nhra should deal with ASAP!!

I know that many feel I am too harsh on our regulators:
This horse raced "legally" in Cape Town in the same condition in spite of the fact that the regulators were apparently made aware of the situation before the horse ever ran..........now they find R Francis guilty of doping!!!!!!
I continue to maintain that our regulators fail to maintain the integrity (and therefore trust) in our industry!
Heaven help us!
