Jip Hoender, very sad.

The Burger family issued a brief media statement in which they revealed that the 29-year-old loose forward has bacterial meningitis.

"We as a family herewith would like to advise all the fans, supporters, sponsors and employers of Schalk that he was yesterday [Wednesday] afternoon diagnosed as having contracted bacterial meningitis following an operation to reduce pressure on a nerve that was influencing the performance of his calf muscle," the family statement said.

"Given a successful recovery, he will remain in hospital for the next 14 days and where after it will be at least another six weeks before he will be fit for playing," the statement said. (Rugby365)

I see that Jesse Mogg is not playing for the Brumbies, but White is back at no9. With Mogg out, ( he was brilliant at 15 in the first few games) and the fact that Basson & Ndungani (2 specialist kick chacers) is not playing and Jan Serfontein at centre (at last) suggesting that
the Bulls might have a different approach to this game. It's almost a 'must' win for them. The Brumbies also picked the young Etienne Oosthuizen at lock (played a few currie games for the Lions) This game is very close to call.

The Crusaders with home advantage at Newlands :D without Reid, Carter, etc.......With Liebenberg & Kitshoff out, Stormers tight 5 are going to be under huge pressure. Dagg is an excellent ball player and can create anything out of nothing. Hope the Stormers can shake of that psychological 'demon' of losing to the Crusaders at Newlands.

Lol@ Greg, we are..as I said, Highlanders fin the stronger, with their short lineout, then smiths knckon just b4 the tryline. Then the forced error Reds made at scrum time..that's why I said reds won't stick with em ind 2nd..as if Reds had tken advantage-they shoulda been atleast 10points clear, bt 5points is striking distance 4 the home team..

WD If the Highlanders started with their finishing lineup the REDs would have lost- Sometimes loyalty for old players is the death of a team!!!

Is it me, or was the officials way below par 2day?
I saw many a forward pass being over looked..and a few calls were shocking..
I think the 1point win flatters the Highlanders, imo Red shouldve won by atleast 6
