Bookmakers & Dubai

Bookmakers must surely wish that racing was only conducted in Dubai.
Official betting in RSA on Soft Falling Rain was 19/10
Best price offered on Interbet was 3.5 ( 5/2 )
Betfair was never less than 4.0 ( 3/1 )with up to 4.3 ( 33/10 ) transacted.
You don't need to be a genius to deduce how business was transacted on this event!

It's always going to be the case with local heros but felt the 15/10 on Shea Shea was a fair price?

I would rather back an American horse in any Dubai sprint on dirt, Dave. Any running? (Haven't looked at the card).
And are you letting 10/1 frighten you off Igugu? Lol.

That's a scary price for me but will have a wee punt just in case she comes back to her best

The irony is that the hearings which were held relating to gambling were maintained to be for the protection of the consumer,
They however fell for the nonsense submitted by bookmakers which protects themselves only, and furthers their exploitation of the local punter.
Bookmakers must be relieved that those who should be "plotting their demise" have about as much imagination as a dead mouse!

I think her 2 comeback runs were very acceptable ..........she will beat that filly she lost to last time ..........I think 4 and 7 the dangers...I really think we will see the old Igugu.........today will tell how good she is though!

Getting back to this tthread.. At about 10 mins before the race Igugu's best price in my shopping basket was a very skinny 11/2 with Interbet. However, because of the massive win pool the tote was paying R9+ and ended at R11+. What I found intriguing is that bookies who lay the open bet had their fixed prices less than half of the open bet. I just thought it was a clever way to help balance their books and receive custom.
