agree that the ref or behind the goal official cannot be blamed. As you say both linesman were very poor but then thats football and thats what sells newspapers and keeps fans talking. Without controversy then football will become boring

Thanks GB, had 450/1 on 5-1 so I was wish the Scots linesmen had been in Turkey cos Drogba's offside goal to make it 4-1 would have stood and I'd have been in with a shout >:D<

agree the linesman being in line with the defender is the rule but the last defender was on the goal-line, for the winning goal, and he still missed the offside .The official behind the goal was far closer, maybe 3 metres away, yet the ref never consulted both/either of them at to discuss any reason to disallow the goal.

Still don't know why football can't use a TMO for marginal off side decisions, where a goal is scored, and if the ball crossed the goal line or not. :S

Shrek, say they don't give a goal and the ball stays in play, at what point do you stop the game and have a look? Next time the ball goes out of play? That might be two minutes later and a goal scored at the other end or whatever. Or stop it straight away? Just when the ball is rolling out to a striker who has an open goal but the game is stopped and they then find out it didn't cross the line so the attacking side lose out all-ways? Until they can come up with a solution (without possible error like the "errors" that happened in both tennis and cricket) then I'd rather ride my luck both ways. A beep going off or whatever when it shouldn't, huge nightmare!!

Englander like I said, where a goal is scored, otherwise let play continue. If a goal is scored and it was marginal check otherwise let play continue, like a foul where the team are still in a good position and they play on.

So you would only check when the goal is given? most problems seem to be when the goal isn't given. I think you might be handing an unfair advantage to the defending side if you only check when the goal is given, what about when its not given and should have been?

Had BM 3,4,5 - 0,1 and consider myself v unlucky considering the number of chances they squandered. Juve will need to up what they are paying the officials these days if they want to get back into the top eschelon of Euro clubs >:D<
