@observer, Heinrich, saldiani, et al:

Until recently, I was onto PA's and JP's. I noticed that always, I wa out by one or two, but had selections that made a difference to the payouts.

For the past few weeks, I have confined myself to ATC (Patents and Yankees) e/w.

I brush past certain races which I sense will be 'upsets'! The ones I concentrate on, I look at from every angle; variables and invariables, intent, factors, elements, etc. If I end up with a doubt, I discard the race / selection.

On that basis (without the inside info), I have been pretty on the mark in isolating 'triers' such as Milkwood Manor, today 2 winners and all 4 on board, in kzn I harped about Drier and he obliged with minimum of a double a meeting! The other day, I also noted an expensive 4-yr old filly which should now go to stud (got a gear or something!).... it won and helped me recoup my losses for the day!

I suppose it's more judicious to stick to one form / type of bet.... and abide by and learn from it by gradually unearthing a pattern / combination that works consistently / profitably.

Most importantly, a number of forumites make intensive studies and regularly pick up the lurkers. Note them and make a point of considering their selections; just a few are Englander, Gregbucks, the Madji, Agra, Triple Temp, Heinrich, Mr H, OR, Mav, Sheza, Shams, TWR, Loopy, etc....... a merry league of tipsters and tipsy often!

And....ALL MAHALA!

Tomorrow's another day...... let's go for it!

Henry Higgins, the English bullfighter who knocked everybody out one afternoon but still lost the contest!!!8-)

His opponent whose name escapes me, looks to have gone in hiding because Henry came out fighting again at the same venue but no appearance of the defending champ or chump, maybe chimp?

Now if we cud have a rematch over the same like previous, the smart money came for the chump, who will the money be for this time round.:S

Personally i think racing is clean and you really don't need inside information, unless it's a first timer or a field first time juveniles, in which case the betting market is a good guide, admittedly not always correct, or a springer in the market (betting coup), in which case, you go with the flow, stick to your original fancy or stay out and not bet. One can get by in racing if one can interpret the information from whatever formguide one uses. After taking the many variables into account for a particular race, to me the biggest stumbling block in racing is the betting, and most follow it blindly (herdish mentality). Try pricing up each race yourself, then look for the overlay/s. Punting will be a lot more profitable, just my humble opinion.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Bayern you make good sense but to me the biggest stumbling block is , once you've done the studying and come out with your selection , will it be a trier ????? that is the biggest problem i have !!!!!!

thanx for this lively discussion.

my comment was meant more ironicly: because all the form study, all my experience do not prevend me from crashin all over again and again!

i think, most of the racings are clean. anyway there always remains a bit uf suspect in some races, especially if u look at the betting movement on some sites like betfair/betdaqu. but i would be aware of accusing some one personally without facts.

the only really "dirty" thing in racing is really this, what oserver said: a handfull people earn, but they need the big group of "small punters", but nobody tell them, that they actually cannot win. it is not the "insider" problem, but simply too many freaks 8-) like us...

My yesterday's full house (5 from 5) at Kenilworth underlines;

tips (inside info) don't necessarily work!

In fact, one can deduce 'inside info' without being given it by just studying the card from all angles.... overseen by 'intent'!

That's how I picked out (in quick succession) selections like Milkwood Manor, got gears, yoshie, wanda, enchanted guest, etc.

Now, over the next few meetings.... let's see how I pan out!

If not.....The Madji klap for opening my mouth prematurely! Ouch! X(

NB:

There being no local race meetings... the above is a 'filler' to bide time....Heh! Heh! (:P)

Yep, am also twiddling thumbs!
