At least two alleged armed robbery suspects have been shot dead in an attempted robbery at Emperors Palace this morning.

The robbery took place at 7:30 am.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the two arrested suspects were part of a group of 10. Others remain on the run.

JOHANNESBURG - There were reports that several suspects were arrested on Sunday following a heist at Emperors Palace Casino on the East Rand.
But there were unconfirmed reports of fatalities, and police were in the area.
Witnesses described hearing gunfire and seeing numerous police vehicles at the casino following an apparent robbery.
One woman, who was opposite Emperors Palace with her boyfriend, described what she heard.
“At about 7am we heard machine guns then it was quiet for about 20 minutes and then we heard helicopters circling the area.”
The entire area around the hotel, which is situated close to the OR Tambo International Airport, was cordoned off.

JOHANNESBURG - Police have arrested a 15th man believed to be part of a gang that tried to rob Emperors Palace Casino on the East Rand on Sunday.

Three people including a child were wounded in a shootout.

The gang tried to storm the Casino during the early hours of Sunday morning, but police had been tipped-off and were already waiting for them.

Cops placed themselves at the main entrance when the group of robbers, some armed with AK-47s, arrived.

A shootout ensued and left two of the suspects injured, but a stray bullet went through a hotel window and hit a 5-year-old girl.

The girl's head was grazed and her hand was injured, she was transported to a nearby hospital.

A total of 10 men were arrested immediately after the shootout.

Another four suspects who managed to get away in a Quantum mini bus were arrested down the road.

The 15th suspect was found hiding inside the casino complex by police via CCTV footage.

Polcie said he had superglue on his hands, along with some of his fellow suspects, who were trying to cover up their fingerprints.

Police are still combing the building, hoping to find other suspects.

Love them or hate them these guys have a messed up job, esp in a countryfilled with crime..
Our police mostly get the wrath of the public, but hardly ever get a pat on the baaack for jobs well done..

Really unfortunate about the lil girl who was injured, criminals fail to see how many other ppls lives are affected other than the 'job' on hand.
