Gajima your calculation is not correct. It should be 49 x 48 x 47 x 46 x 45 x 44 = 10068347520 HOWEVER : That assumes that one has to have all 6 numbers in the correct order which of course is not the case. If the 6 numbers are on your ticket, you win the big prize regardless of the order in which they were drawn. The odds of getting 6 numbers correct is exactly 13983816 to 1 ( if you play one line only) Call it 14 million to one. Having said that, I too am very suspicious about both the frequency of the lotto being won, and the number of winning tickets

Sorry, for some reason I had in my head there were only 45 numbers. I agree odds are 1 in 13983816. However the point remains that 3 winners is highly improbable especially as the odds of catching it were greater than the number of tickets sold.
Unless of course you know the numbers in advance or you live in Australia.

The correct answer is 8 145 060 chances for 45 numbers in any order. 45x44x43x42x41x40 = 5 864 443 200 divided by 720= 8 145 060. There are 720 different ways for 6 numbers-6x5x4x3x2x1. ANY MORE LESSONS !!!

Well that would be correct IF there were 45 numbers - I thought there were 50 - so then it should be 50x49x48x47x46x45/720 = 15,890,700 :S
