Steroids- so why the resistence?

With everyone being struck down in shock by the godolphin scandal, how come Dubai,South Africa ,Australia etc dont come out and ban Steroid abuse?

The UK authorities were quick to act,but they were shockingly quick to scapegoat zurooni. Now that the trainer is going to appeal ,hopefully the shit will fly...

Whats different about Lance Armstrong and a Thoroughbred?...Armstrong had a choice !!!!

Well, it can be said that all horses should be on one type of feed. No special feeds.

Borrow me some roids - need to bulk up a bit,,,
but in all seriousness - I do think that they need an international board to govern such rules and make it universal....

In all sports the banning of substances is internationally enforced. My 16 year old plays provincial rugby and even he knows what he may or may not use, eat, drink, so imo a proffesional (trainer or vet) should know what and when subsances can be used. Why can't there be a universal standard like in every other sports. This will remove any GREY areas in substance abuse. Steriods enhance performance and as Muhti said that is not natural. My question would be, what damage does steriods do to horses, because I know the damage it does to humans ?

.....stomach ulcers, kidney failure and bulking to a point where too much strain is on the joints for starters.....some young horses have muscled up to a point where their undeveloped bones have snapped due to the tension....::o

?......steroids may increase the fertility or potency in male horses.as a side effect is increased testosterone levels,.....however it is converse for the fairer sex......many are not able to reproduce and battle to come into season......certain steroids are also purposely used to prevent racing mares from coming into season......::o

They are the worst form of abuse in horses and should be banned..muthiman has said it all and the NHRA does not even care to investigate the use of them. The KZN vet who took over from Dr. Gatley worked for one of the vet practices and knows the extent of the abuse. Who actually cares? No one as far as I can see.
