Hi Flash Harry

When I talk about transparency it is not Stable 'Tips' as I agree every Trainer thinks his Horse can win/place which proably is the case if they are all more or less FIT & WELL. That is what should be public info e.g AHS vaccination dates as this does affect a Horse's performance for awhiel. Now only the Stable know this and 'not Computatform so IMO it is equivalent to 'insider trading'. With this knowledge then we need to use our preferred publication to decide for ourselves where to punt.

FH, to me there is a huge difference between "info" and a simple one-liner stating the well-being and their thoughts on a horse's chances. Exactly like the Shams do. No-one expects (or should expect!!) them to be 100% correct but, as I said on yesterday's Ken thread, if the trainer of the winner in the last had come on here and said "much better than seen to date, could surprise" there would no doubt be a lot less annoyed punters and a lot less speculation that all may not be what it seems. IMO its all about stable transparency and authorities investigating and acting as required... and there is a long way to go in SA Racing for it to be achieved but I would love to see some steady progress being made towards that goal. Surely that is not too much to ask?

@FH, Englander, Observer, Rob, Fogwils, etc....

For those amongst you who visit the local TAB or bookie's kiosk, can you get me at least 20 signatures each (date, name, area, tel, name and signature columns on a Foolscap page and fax to: 011 496 3545), supporting me with the following:

1. Approach the Minister of DTI, National and provincial Gambling Boards, the NHA, and National Council of Provinces, Public Protector, Consumer Council, Constitutional Court, and any other interested party;

2. Ask them to look into this specific aspect of the horseracing industry, where, for the punter, the playing fields are not level as with other gambling entities;

3. Request them to introduce appropriate legislation / take necessary action to correct this anomaly;

4. Any other suggestions to for remedy?

Over to you!
I am prepared to bell the cat! Lol!

Oh please can the govt. look into racing . I'm sure with their in depth knowledge of the industry and their proven track record in reviving industries they will be the games savior in shining armour. Remind everybody how much time and money was WASTED the last time govt. got involved with an industry investigation.

hahahahaha fuknha , pull the other one , it has bells >

PL, I don't entirely disagree with you on the little I know about SA govt, but perhaps rather than the above response it might be a little more useful if you answered point 4 of Umlilo's post. Nothing against you bud, but responses like that will only ensure nothing changes. That might be the case anyway but, as you might say, "oh please" ;) let us not "belittle" those trying to encourage a more transparent and accountable industry.

another classic example why we need transparency in this game:

yesterday last race at Kenilworth

1. favourite originally carded to be ridden by Karl Neisius, then replaced by Keanen Steyn ( long after bets had been struck)...
2. the eventual winner -coming back from 254 days rest- whose previous form had been 13/19, 19/19 gets backed from 66/1 into 35/1.....

wtf.....screwing the public daylight

this is the problem thou flash...we see a horse that should not lose on paper at all, and holds the rest of the field by many lengths in previous runs, its now a 5/10 shot, but now me as an owner, what if i want to have a punt on my horse but 5/10 is too short, will i ask to give it a miss? what if a jock needs money and doesn't want to win a little 3k or so by the horse winning, when he can get a bookmaker to lay the horse and make 50k? what if a trainer misses the price and fills the horse with water to stick punters that stole his price out?

trusting in the computerform only, will never work.

what i have found over the years, is study your form, find your one or two bets on the card, and then your 'inside' information will only strengthen/caution your original decision....

The Eastern Cape another circus.....faulty stalls .....inconsistent form aplenty ......what can we expect from the NHA ..........a pompous meaningless press release.........action - nil!

Racing is becoming a joke because the regulation is laughable!

Will the NHA penalise the operators for faulty equipment...........of course not ...........he who pays the piper
!

Just watched Winning ways and someone asked the question about the well-being/info re horses from stables, inoculations etc....they (Laff & Goodman) both agreed that it had an affect on horses for 1 to 3 weeks and the public should be informed, but cut the conversation short and said let us move to the next question. Twee windgatte wat niks voel vir die 'punter' nie.

@OR:

'both agreed that it had an affect on horses for 1 to 3 weeks and the public should be informed, but cut the conversation short '

Besides our erstwhile fellow clanners (like the Shams, Craig, etc), it is important info for ordinary punters who now can 'tata ma chance' with the Azzie runners where we know that it has been hit by a virus.

I am still waiting for those signatures for the Gambling Boards, Minister DTI, Public Protector, Consumer Council, etc......!

I made cursory enquiries and have been told that there is definitely merit to what we posted regarding the 'unfairness' of non-disclosure of info....!
