Trainer patterns, do they exist and what can we learn from them?

Are our local trainers creatures of habit, or is researching this angle to find value a waste of time? For example, some trainers horses run very well after a long rest, while other trainers horses are still a little unfit after a long rest. What do the clansmen think?

Cant remember who it was but read a trainer stating he found that Guateng trained horses were fitter than kzn trained horses, when he moved upto KZN..

i think the foundation of this topic is as follows

a "few" trainers usually get the best out of their runners when the following condition is met , when the price is right ........

Absolutely true......but that is a pattern in itself..........those stable's horses will reproduce form far less than the norm.

Once you have worked out the form (eliminated what you consider the no-hopers) the next most important factor is the "patterns" or on going record of the stable in certain circumstances- the patterns tend to be more predictable than the form in my experience!

I agree Hibs.........I studied the hell out of poker and learnt all the odds etc etc

2 things I discovered.......1)the luck in poker is a higher factor than most admit......the better skilled WILL profit over luck IN THE LONG RUN but it can be a long haul when luck is not going your way and 2) It won't ever be me cos I can be reasonably patient waiting for a horse but not for a hand- I don't have the patience/discipline for poker so gave it up (still enter the odd game(sit&go)if bored when racing is abandoned but without great expectation.)

Similarly the patterns are not an exact science by any means..........merely a greater "likelihood"!

Here is something I know from experience in sport. Going from kzn to the highveld you lack oxygen, and vice versa. Regardless of training I assume if horses are not properly climatised they must suffer the same as all athletes.
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!
