If it was unsafe then so be it,but I have a friend who is so close to the track they look down onto a third of it............I was keeping in touch and at the time of the inspection they reported it had been not much more than a drizzle yet.
It sounds like the track is very suspect if it can't take that much water before it's dangerous!!

That is the impression that I get from 200 km away....The surface grounding is suspect.....?
Geography....landslide...or what ever they call it....surface resting on a layer of water....?
purely guessing...but with that little rain....
horses can run in sludge...but not shifting soil....?

I can understand the tote board excuse if it had been raining for days before and the track hadn't had time to dry up....but that wasn't the case on Friday night.
I was on the golf course at 3pm when the rain started and sure it came down hard at first but quickly eased and no ways that amount of rain cause an abandoned meeting.
Methinks there are more problems that are not being spoken about with this track??!

if anyone was at the track yesterday i would like to know if any trainers had something to say about friday nights fiasco in their interviews because two interviews are missing from the replay package on tellytrack and from previous experience with the phumgold controlled tellytrack they omit what they please much like their controlled press select what they want to write about...reminds me of the national party

Following the running of Race 2, the riders expressed concern with an area from approximately the 600 metre mark until entering the straight, which they felt was far softer than the remainder of the track. A protest was lodged by the riders and a panel was formed in terms of Rule 5.2.2. The Panel and the Trainer’s Representatives after inspecting the area were unanimously of the view that the area was softer and unstable. The Panel considered that with the false rail being so far out, there was no other option but to abandon the reminder of the meeting.

Does this mean that if they moved the false rail, the meeting could have been completed?

No, it was already out as far as possible.... if it had been set at say 8m's then they may have had an option to move it out past the extra soft ground...quim sabe ?

there was lots of punters that thought the meeting might not have taken place. I was one of those.

Bloodshot, 100%, transparecy is the key and that way the public will support decisions to keep Greyville in good enough condition for the winter season.
There is clearly something wrong with Greyville, Pirates hits the nail on the head, how can you race at Clairwood following all that rain but not at Greyville which had less than 10% of the rain when the racing had started.
Are any jockeys who rode at Greyville and Clairwood willing to comment?
The huge Tote board is being pulled down and being replaced by a huge TV, i hope it does not cast a huge shadow over the course which will inhibit the grass growth. Not complaining just concerned.
There are great race meetings scheduled to take place at Greville over the next 3 months, i hope we dont have postponements due to the state of the track.
When the course was closed for the new walk way was the rest of the course treated during this window period for the champions season?
