Tellytack replays
12 years 1 week ago
I am hoping the management of Tellytrack get to read this....
Why are the racing replays so damn looooooooooooong
with all the interviews???? Not many are really too cared about what was said in the past about the race and all the damn thank you and congrats to owners etc.. All those concerned with that were there by the races and got the message across already. The public is really not interested in all the thank you and the obvious comments that come from the trainers and jocks as it all the same banter all the time... That should be shown during the course of the day after the race when its fresh... Why would anybody wanna know what the jock thinks about the rest of his runs after the meeting is already over.
If we define replays of the days racing, lets keep it to that. Otherwise call it replays and comments from the days racing.... Most of us just want to see the races being replayed with a quick 10-12 second screen shot of the payouts and not this looooooong tedious payout screen shot that you'll show. If you want to check your tickets do it the next morning morning via the paper.... In essence the race plays shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to complete then you'll have more time to show the other journalism programs that you'll put time into to (winning ways etc...)
Also, during the course of the day, on course camera shots and parade ring shoots should be shown so that we who are not at the course can get to see the condition of horses long enough to make some informed opinion of the runners. I really dont wanna hear cecil go through the betting of every single horse in every single race race that you'll show on tellytrack.
I appreciate that its a betting channel but you'll should really mix things up sometimes. Interviews on the day with trainers, owner, jockeys, the public especially on the big race days throught the day will be something different. You dont have to wait till end of the race to speak to connections I am sure... Investigative journalism.....
I am no editor or producer but for goodness sakes you'll show too much irrelevant information.
Do something about Tellytrack please... Listen to your customers out there...

Problem here is that we all differ in what we would like to see - for me personally I find the replays much more interesting if they DO in fact show the interviews - especially those that were missed during live racing because we had to watch a chariot race from some godforsaken Aussie or NZ venue or a 5 minute jump race from the UK
But I agree with most of the rest of your post (tu)

there are vantages to listening to the interviews ie what the rider/trainer thinks of the horse for future reference, some owners like to tape the interviews that night if they don't get the dvd and Sponsors who dont get the live coverage they pay for at least get some exposure in the loop...as Frodo points out getting the live interviews is important to the punter, case in point in Muzi's Thalasso interview that was not shown live he makes it quite clear that he fancied Bonnard VERY strongly on the last run, this sort of info all helps
Give everything but up!

Ja no for sure but after the meeting... is it still valuable. Would it be more valuable live?
What of the option of tellytrack having the facility to provide said owners with a dvd??? They clearly have the footage available and the owners sure do have the money to pay R50-R100 for a dvd to have it in their collection... Maybe they should make it mandatory to provide the owner with a dvd as a winning gift?
Or how about this... The debacle here is having to watch a repeat programming to view what you would like to view. If, we knew what was going to be shown during the night then we could tape it and watch it instead of waking up or staying up till weird hours in the hope of catching a glimpse of what we are interested in.... i.e a program schedule! it is a rerun program... How hard is it to work out what time programms will run at????? Shit I could that.

Case in point....

I understand it hard to please everyone.... Tellytrack will never be able to do that. Hell, Apple cant even do that...
But pleasing a bigger portion of your viewership is a step in the right direction.
Ask the question..... Conduct a survey.... FIND OUT WHAT YOUR VIEWERS WANT. THE BOARD/MANAGERS do not know it all especially when your audience is the general public. dont please the directors/board/managers, please as many public people as is possible as that will return dividens...

I think the first lot of replays is usually without interviews, and then later in the evening they run the replays with interviews.
It is useful for the owner that was not at the track.
