I like the way Firdose Moonda summarised the Champions Trophy game last night (ESPN cricket). Of course she's using results from two different sets of games, the CT and the World Cup. But imho, SA were about due for some good luck. I've modified it somewhat (square brackets):
"So often, South Africa have been on [the wrong] side of the equation. In 1992, they were eliminated from the World Cup because of rain. In 1996, they lost to West Indies. In 1999, they tied a semi-final against Australia and had to leave the World Cup because [of run rate]. In 2003, they fell foul of Duckworth-Lewis. And at the 2004 and 2006 Champions Trophies defeats to West Indies put them out."
As she says later in the article, there are still some major hurdles to jump. But each success breaks another hoodoo. Here's hoping ...

health and safety as the scared that the roof may cave in and besides it would take about 10 years to build as everybody has to get their kick back (re Wembley)

Don't blame the organisers, its these so called "sportsman" scared of the rain. Imagine you a kid and you see your hero running in the rain because of the desire to win not sitting in the dressing room and getting rich. I bet most of them grew up playing in the rain. Simply put they lost the desire to win.

Far too complicated to work out who SA will play in the semis. Sri Lanka play Australia today and at this stage SA could be meeting any of the 4 teams in that group.
