This is ridiculous, the oke is almost 95 & death is inevitable! Life must go on, no one would grumble at an innings like that!

I believe that in the event of Madiba passing away before the July the meeting will be postponed to the date scheduled for the Gold Cup and the Gold Cup will be cancelled (remember the Gold Cup does not have a sponsor)

We race in this country on every day of the year except Christmas day. Is Madiba (great person he is) now being declared a god??? Yes, this government of ours want to remove religious holidays (and the reasons don't matter), but surely Zoem Zoem cannot play god and make dead people gods???

I am not disrespectful to Madiba, but will be totally disrespectful to the government if they move a race for the sake of a human being who passed away.

The country will come to a stand still, I can assume most companies policy for employees will be no work, no pay and no diciplinary action.
The day after the passing away should be a public holiday as well as the day of the funeral. I assume the mourning process will be 2 weeks.

This will be a sensitive period for everybody. I can not see the Durban July taking place or any other major sporting event for 2 weeks.

Ensure you purchase sufficient fuel.

I agree with Greg .Mr Mandela is old now and his passing on won't be a shock to anyone .As sad as it will be it aint gonna be unexpected.

It would be a disgrace if there is any racing in the week after his passing. He is seen world-wide as an exceptional leader and deserves respect. The July is already spoilt anyway (refer to other posts on the forum discussing runners that should never have been in the field).

Look the July runs every year but like it or not (just like the Soccer World cup) this kind of event will only happen once in your lifetime - Very difficult to balance Life with Death but with Mr Mandela I expect the country will come to a halt for a few days much like when Chavez died in Venezuela - Question? Will the Lotto draw be postponed?
