If they can shut down the country when Verwoerd died and then not offer the same respect to probably the greatest humanitarian ever born then i will be disgusted and very disappointed, The July (for me at least) will be a non event should Madiba no longer be with us....

Well said .......and I agree with you.
We are talking about a man who brought us freedom and the power to vote.

Haupie I think this is the most insensitive thing you could have uttered. I quote "Make dead people Gods".... I think it's your reference to Madiba. He never said or wanted to be God but instead, was a very humble man.
If you object to the July being postponed why did'nt you voice your opinion when it was postponed until after the World cup in 2010?

Verwoerd the bastard that destroyed SA
Mandela the man who saved SA
These two names should not be uttered in the same universe let alone the same sentance

In consultation with the Office of the Premier, it has been agreed that the 2013 Vodacom Durban July will take place as planned on Saturday 6th July 2013. Protocols for activities on the day have been approved.
Premier, Dr Zweli Mkize, said “ It will be a fitting gesture as our beloved Madiba is in the prayers of all of us globally. We all love and salute him ”
As a tribute to Nelson Mandela, Gold Circle is to incorporate in the main race preliminaries, the observance of a 67 second period of silent prayer in respect and honour of Madiba. During this time images of the country’s great leader will be featured on the large screens at the venue.
Upon entrance to Greyville Racecourse on race day, patrons will be given a heart shaped emblem as a tribute to the Father of the Nation. Additionally, a commemorative page has been included in the information brochure hand-out which will be made available to all patrons.
