If Gold Circle could find it within their means to honor past winners of the Durban July by inviting them to the July and then do a roll of honor of each ex-jockey and current jockey who have won the race in the past, in the Parade Ring.

Names like Raymond Rhodes, James Maree, Bertie Hayden, Mark Sutherland, Jimmy Anderson etc. will feature amongst the more famous like Michael Roberts and Garth Puller.

Good idea - but I think too much going on on the day - maybe a good idea to do this a few weeks before at Greyville - would add to the hype

Yep you right Colins, would work if we have a Festival Of Racing week in KZN culminating in the Durban July.

However we light years away from the likes of Royal Ascot and Epsom.

Very much doubt it, they could be remembered in a Night Of the Legends get together perhaps.

Does anybody recall when last such an event was held and if any awards were given out, I know in other sport such presentations took place.
