Thanks to THH and LG - now for a slightly different perspective
As per usual, a lot will depend on the way the course runs - the last few weeks they have been running on from behind - could be the saem again - or not - check the first few races.
Imo the Magner stable has come into form (no bias
) - so a place all to come / yankee on Cerise Silk, Shattered Image and Paintyourface (and maybe also Master Entertainer) not the worst bet.
In the 5th Across the Ice looks hard to beat; only danger for me could be the stable mate Follow the Piper - obviously have to ignore the recent runs; but she is ideally suited to this trip, well in here and tries the blinkers which may bring her back to her best.
Best bet for me (sorry LG) has to be Olympic Spring - better over the 1800, has the weight advantage today over Miss K, Striker rides - what more can I say - and I really think Water Bird has her work cut out here.
Enjoy (tu)

Once again THH, hats off to you (tu)
Also thanks to LG and to BH and Frodo for their input, all very helpful thanks guys (tu)
Personally, I think it can pay to follow those who "looked good" last time... I am with Frodo in thinking the 1800 could well see Olympic Spring head Miss K as of the two she did look like she was running on the better at the finish. Shadow Line won very nicely and from a wide draw Georgia On My Mind was a big surprise to me in winning so comfortably. Putting those three in a treble. Mr Alfonso and Across the Ice can be added as imo they should both win (though like Frodo I also think Follow The Piper may be worth a few rand). Of the rest I'm going with Seattle Fairy, looks fair e/w value if the top two in the market don't take to the surface and her sand run was good. Paintyourface appeals in the 7th.
Be(s)t of luck to all (tu)

Accross the Ice looks to be the best bet on the card, but at 8-10 with Striker up i dont know if i can put my money down. Going with Englander here and going to see how the 1st 2 races pan out before putting a cent down.

Georgia won very easily imo last time Greg. My slight concern with Georgia is the distance, if struggles to see it out then Dalalaat could be the one to take advantage but only ran a couple of days ago (though in the UK that can often be a good thing) and was handy then before being beaten 7ls, albeit on turf. Personally have gone for Amazing Grace for second.

Hi GUYS
R1 Strydom, but sugaree has improved in two starts and appears to have the better jock aboard in the stable. Def a place bet
R2 The Strydom appointment surely is a pointer. Lucky usues PS sparingly. My best bet
R3 Cerise Silk and Swift Bow to fight it out
R4 If Break of Dawn can run on the sand, she will win. If not will have to go with Georgia on my mind
R5 As previously stated Accross the Ice looks the likely winner, but Natal horses usually perform well 1st time on the highveld, specially on sand. Bay Route going into my PA
R6 You may think I am a PS fan,but he seems to have al the mounts today. PS win and Panjo the biggest danger
R7 Blue Concorde and Eternity to fight out this one
R8 Can't believe the big difference in price between Miss K and Olympiuc Spring. I Cerise Silk runs well, water bird should sh!t in. All 3 in my PA
Thanks to Louis for the inout and the other students of the card for your comments
All the best and have fun
