From the ECGBB Act
A total of 6% on winning bets payable as 3% to the Provincial Revenue Fund and 3% to
be divided as prescribed between the holders of race course licences in the Province
shall be charged, levied and collected and shall be payable by every person who placed
a winning bet on any event or contingency

Found out that MARSHALLS do take the Tax in Eastern Cape but reimburse their punters so they are not prejudiced by Gambling Act of the Eastern Cape. (tu)

Wow this is news! Nice one Marshall's! Maybe Hollywood might think of doing the same! (
). Shame all this time the poor East Cape get shunted again, while the rest of country get free sports bets!

All provinces had the same tax rate of 6% on all bets, and it must be about
6 years ago that this changed, and all sports bets were taxed on a GGR
basis ( the punter did not pay, the bookmaker was taxed on Gross Gaming
Revenue). All the provinces were supposed to fall in line, but the Eastern
Cape did not.
The reason for this is that the formulas for betting tax payment in the EC
are in the Gambling Act, and not the regulations like all other provinces. So
the EC Gambling Board were unable to make any change to the tax structure,
and we have been waiting for the Legislature to make changes to the Act for
the last 6 years.
There was a white paper on amendments to the EC act in January, and we
thought that the changes were imminent, but as usual the Eastern Cape is
unable to get things done.
So the fault is all due to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature
.

Betting tax is daylight robbery.
When you take a bet you are taxed from the word go.
If I take a pram downtown and sell light pen-jacknifes, sunglasses, keyholders then let them tax me for it, as I make a profit - even a small one.
This is robbery.
To make it happen the political parties send various strange characters to tv panels. False priests, communists, other bizarre persons to make propaganda.
