Gold Circle Season Review

Should Gold Circle not have a review of the past season just as any large organization would do and analyze where they have succeeded and where they have failed and how they will address issues that need addressing - problems at the start, poor track conditions for their most important race etc., etc.

I think that the organization lacks direction - there has been a plethora of errors this season. Has anything been done about the state of the track on July day - the sensible thing that should have been done was an agronomist should have been appointed to report on the track condition and why it was in such condition and what is to be done going forward to avoid a repetition and advise the stakeholders and public accordingly.

What are they doing about marketing - marketing is more than just placing an ad in the newspaper or on Tellycr**.

Apparently there were a few horses (more than usual) coming of the track with injuries yesterday... This is something owners and trainers were discussing behind the scenes yesterday. As a new guy in the game, I can't really judge this, but isn't this something that also should be discussed? I would be devastated if my horse got injured because the condition of the track is very poor... Again, I am new in the game, so very difficult to judge...

Of course my first reaction was a little bit disappointment (that is the excitement etc.). But after the race the jockey was saying it is a champion and that he would love to ride it next year Durban July. Thought that was a very nice complement! He wanted to do it the hard way and run very green on the straight, almost like he got scared from the grandstand... And when Forest Indigo came in a little bit he did not know what to do... Enough to be very excited for the future. For now he deserves some rest....

I preferred the Cape Season and even the JHB Summer season.

this natal season lurched from one crisis to another.

They need to do a serious review or the GOLD CUP wont be the only Grade One race with no sponsor.

In my opinion

GC is run by horsey people with their hearts and marketing in the right place as opposed to P which tends to be run by accountants, a combination of both would be good for SA racing.
