Urgent request from the SPCA

Dear Colleagues,

We are keen to contact a Mr Jan Van Tonder allegedly, the last owner of a Thoroughbred mare named Coalmine Canary that we recently rescued from the gutter in a nearby suburb of the Cape Metro.

We have been told that he has had dealings with both Appaloosa and Warmblood breeders (he was reportedly crossing TB’s with both breeds) both here as well as in Namibia. It is alleged that he bought Coalmine Canary from a local horse dealer Mrs Louise Pit (sp) 074 112 2037 for such breeding purposes. The contact details that she has for Mr Van Tonder are we suspect outdated.

His last known stable address was Oaklands in the Western Cape (we think that he lives in Tableview CT) and the cellular phone number that we have for him goes directly to voice mail.

We have appealed for his contact details through our web and Facebook sites to no avail. I find this somewhat unusual as he has been in the business for a while – since at least 2008.

Could you help us trace him as a matter of urgency?

I doubt very much whether this MR van Tonder raced this mare around the block in the suburb it was found? He may only have been a step in the sell-on process before the horse landed up somehow in a bad situation...Gotta be careful here people how this possible solution and prevention of this happening over and over again is arrived at !
