Cerise Cherry flies our flag high in HK
11 years 8 months agoCERISE CHERRY STRIKES IN HONG KONG
Former Bloodstock South Africa buy, Cerise Cherry, won a HK$2 000 000 race at Sha Tin on Sunday. This gelding has been a tremendous ambassador for South African racing during his stint in Hong Kong, and it is wonderful to see him back in the winners circle.
The gelded son of Goldkeeper, who is trained by Derek Cruz, won Sunday’s HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup by three parts of a length over Best Eleven, with Destined for Glory back in third place.
Now an 8yo, Cerise Cherry, who was bred by the Sandown Stud, has won six times in Hong Kong and earned over HK $13 000 000 in prize money.
Runner up in last year’s G1 Hong Kong Sprint, Cerise Cherry cost R220 000 at the 2007 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.
His connections are hoping the gelding can go one better in the 2013 International Sprint – where all South African eyes will be watching!

What about Key Castle. He ran a cracker yesterday and will be winning again soon. Well done to the trainer for keeping him well and in good shape

Hibs
I love this horse he has a big chance I think.
What a galloping advert for tough durable South African horses.

Cerise Cherry took 4th in the Longines Hong Kong Sprint, not bad for an 8-year-old in an international Grade 1 race.
And Dougie Whyte rode the winners of both the Mile and the Cup, two of the four International races in Hong Kong's big day. The ride he had in the first was at 14-1 and the second was 7-2.
