Too short of time to complete. As ever please post comments, selections etc on the daily thread. Shams could have a very good day imo...

RACE 1 - 1000 MAIDEN

1 SANTORINI - Rugg/Brown. Well beaten c debut over 1200 coming off a 15 week rest with blinkers on. Might improve for the drop in d and removal of the blinkers (ran ok with blinkers when tried the once on turf) but will have to prove himself now before I get involved

2 RANDOM AL - Visser/Yeni. Returned to the track lto to run a creditable second when tiring late over 1200. 4th has won next time out and in with a good chance.

3 JACOBUS MAXIMUS - Visser/Khumalo. Sand debut. Shown little on the turf but sire can produce some decent sand performers and if the price allows may be worth a small e/w interest.

4 THE MATADOR - Rugg. Yet to be in the top 3 in 8 c runs and not got within 6 lengths. Probably back to a more suitable distance but seemingly not stable elect and not for me.

5 COLONEL SANDERS - 14.75l is the closest he has been to the winner in 6 runs. 3 of which have been on c. CnCs dad perhaps need to stop eating his own fast food before he can feature.

6 BEACH BAR - Miller/MVR. Runner-up in all 3 efforts over c/d and this seems his best d as unplaced in 2 efforts over further. Winner lto was 2nd first time out of the maidens. Decent chance.

7 SECRET DELIGHT - 2 3rds in 3 efforts over c/d but those came in his first two runs and he seems to have gone the wrong way since with no places in 4 further c runs and looks to be well held by BB.

8 TUITIRA - 12.5l is the closest he has come to the winner and that was on c debut over this d. Been even more soundly beaten in 7 subsequent runs, albeit over further but, the jockey will probably need to bring out the binoculars to watch the winner past the post.

9 ILISABETTA - Shams. Beaten only 4l into 6th on c debut lto over 1200 when finding some market support. That was not the strongest of fields but is now on 3rd run after a rest and is often thereabouts. Was 0.5l behind Saint A in that run though and that one seems well held by others. Not completely without a chance but think there are likely to be others stronger.

10 NOMENCLATURE - Shams/W'man. Returns to a more suitable d imo having been soundly beaten (and 3l behind RA) over 1200 lto. Has 2 silvers in 3 c/d attempts but 5.5l adrift of BB in the run behind Mapoggo. Chance but, something to prove again.

11 SAINT ACTAVIUS - Yet to finish in the top 3 in 6 c runs, 4 over this d. Often not beaten too far but seems well held and unlikely to feature in the finish.

12 DADDY'S LUCK - No top 3s in 6 c runs, 3 over the d. Should be an also ran.

13 PRINCESS CHICHIBU - No top 3s in 3 c runs, 2 over the d. Not beaten too far in her runs but was behind DL last time and should be another also ran.

14 TATSUMAKI - Looks well held and no top 3 finish in any of her three runs and looks like that run should continue here.

15 FELAN - Reserve. Spies. Does have a second but yet to finish within single figure lengths of the winner and another who is unlikely to feature, if getting a run.

16 YANKEE MASTER - Reserve. Sand debut. Breeding suggests a possibility of liking the surface but, especially, with the trainer form, no more than a watching brief for me.

Beach Bar looks the obvious one here, though a little tentative about the bridesmaid tag. Another bridesmaid Nomenclature could feature if at her best and Random Al should be thereabouts. Don't be surprised if there is big improvement from Santorini and the "hidden" danger could be Jacobus Maximus... BEACH BAR x NOMENCLATURE x JACOBUS MAXIMUS

RACE 2 - 1800 MAIDEN

1 MY SANTANA - Sand debut. Breeding suggests a fair chance he will enjoy the sand. Returns from an 11 week rest following 2 disappointing turf runs but better prior to that. Trainer form a concern and the price very short imo at around 11/2.

2 PAY MASTER - Shams. 3rd on both c runs over 1400 and 1600. Not placed in 3 d attempts on turf, though excuses in 2 of those. Not convinced that, returning from a 23 week rest and coming from the 12 box, the step up in trip is ideal, a watching brief for me.

3 MOUNTAIN RUSH - Shams/W'man. 2 silvers, both at this d, and a 3rd in his 3 c runs and despite the high draw of 14, must have a very good chance of success.

4 NICK OF TIME - C debut. Poor at Vaal Sand lto and overall form is weak. Trainer form not strong and hard to recommend despite the 3 box.

6 OLD DEUTERONOMY - Visser/Khumalo. No top 3s in 4 c runs and well beaten in all starts, up to 1800 but has been fading badly over 1400 and 1600. Can't totally discount but even with Khumalo up an unlikely winner for me.

7 SANGREAL - Miller/MVR. Well beaten over 1200 on c debut but overall form has been poor. Up in d again here but on 2nd run after a rest and despite respect for this combination will have to show more on the surface before I could be interested.

8 PARTNER'S TIGER - Off 63 weeks, 0-1-1 in 14 c runs, no top 3s in 4 over c/d, beaten over 10l in all but one of last 10 starts. Miracles do happen but...

9 KATANGA - Rugg. 0-2-1 in 12 c runs and well beaten only try at this d. Appie takes weight off and occasionally not far off but expect some to be stronger here.

10 SILKEN SEA - respectable 0-2-3 in his 14 runs and that improves to 0-1-1 in his 2 attempts at c/d. Seemingly not run in the strongest of maidens but not to be discounted in a field with many weak looking runners.

11 TIBBSAGAIN - Well beaten in both c runs over 1400 and though up in trip no obvious reason, given that the step up in d on turf brought about no improvement, why she is likely to improve sufficiently to trouble the judge

12 GEMMA - 0-1-1 in 16 c runs but has improved recently. Muzi up and a big step up in trip, was soundly beaten only attempt at this trip but that was early in career and when overall form was much worse. Could be in the shake-up but would like to see the evidence over this d before I back her.

13 RESERVED LADY - 0-1-1 in 12 c runs but that silver came over d three runs back when 0.5l ahead of SS. Has a decent draw and not completely without hope based on the run mentioned but would be more confident in a small e/w interest at a possible big price if the blinkers were off as seems to do better without.

14 KING'S MENTOR - Not within single figure lengths of the winner in 7 c runs including a 13l defeat at this d. Pass.

15 HONOLULU EXPRESS - Reserve. Might be better if there are no scratchings! lol

Mountain Rush is the likely winner and hard to oppose imo. There are a few in with a chance of places, perhaps Silken Sea the strongest of those. Reserved Lady at a bigger price could be one to throw into trifectas and quartets but I would prefer no blinkers. My Santana would have been of more interest but only at a much better odds... MOUNTAIN RUSH x SILKEN SEA x RESERVED LADY

RACE 3 - 2200 H'CAP-72

1 CASTLE ROCK - Visser/Khumalo. 2-0-2 in 8 c runs but those 2 wins were the last two and is 1-0-2 in 4 over c/d. Had 4 of these behind when winning lto over 1800, Dolomite closest. On the penultimate run over c/d Dolomite is 1.5kgs better off for a 1l defeat but CR always looked to have the beating of his stablemate and I think the form will be confirmed.

2 CAPTAIN SIDERIUS - Shams/W'man. Very good sand debut, if only in a field of 5, when winning by 8l over 1600 lto. Stays this d (has won over 2400 on turf) and though the opposition is stronger, in with a very good chance of following-up.

3 DOLOMITE - Visser/Yeni. Not convinced this is his best d with 0-1-0 record in 3 c/d efforts but a 1-2-1 record in 8 on c overall. Beaten by CR last twice they met and lto plugged on again without the bit extra to win going down 3.5l over 1800. Likely to be thereabouts again and a chance but not one I would back to win.

4 SHARP DRESSED MAN - not been within 13l of the winner in his last 9 starts and though yet to go this d, seems well held by others over shorter and an inquiry needed if winning.

5 QUE SERA SERA - Shams. 1-2-2 in 11 c runs with the win coming in one of only 2 attempts at this d, that wis his maiden win and was soundly beaten next time out over c/d. Was a staying on 3rd beaten 1l by CR in penultiate and weights remain the same. Not chanceless but likely to find some stronger again.

6 FAMILIAR CHAT - Visser. Finally came out of the maidens and the 20th attempt lto over 1800 here lto. That was his 3rd c run and ran a 4.25l 3rd over c/d on c debut with the second winning next time out. Appears to be stable 3rd string but runs off a low weight and another who is not completely without hope, especially from this stable, but unlikely

7 ICE KITTEN - 2-1-2 in 21 c runs but yet to try this trip. Has a chance if staying the trip but I think the form of others here looks stroinger over 1600 and 1800 and a surprise to me if he wins

8 PLATOON - Maiden win her only top 3 in 9 c runs and since winning that maiden, 21.5l is the closest she has come to the winner in 6 attempts. Tries this trip for the first time on sand but faded badly only turf run at the d. Jockey should pack a telescope to watch the winner hit the line.

9 RUN RORKUS RUN - No top 3s in 9 c runs, well beaten in most and well held here by a number of rivals. Might need to share the telescope.

A few here who should really be also rans, a couple with flickers of hope but for me it should be a fight between Castle Rock and, imo, the likely winner, Captain Siderius. Dolomite should follow them with Que Sera Sera for the quartet. Familiar Chat and Ice Kitten potential if unlikely spoilers. So box the other 4 in a quartet! lol... CAPTAIN SIDERIUS x CASTLE ROCK x DOLOMITE

RACE 4 -1600 H'CAP-72

1 STARFIRE - Visser/Khumalo. Can't fathom this horse. Seemed not to stay 1200 and then wins over 1200 and 1400 and now tries 1600. Has a 4-0-2 record in 14 c runs and won penultimate over 1400 (on Khumalo's request if I remember rightly, perhaps the same again?). Obvious chance if stays despite high draw.

2 TARTEEB - Miller/MVR. 4-3-3 in 9 c runs and 2-1-1 in 5 over c/d. Returns after a 15 week rest which was probably needed following two disappointments hot on the heels of two wins. Ran a decent 2l third over 1400 when returning from a rest last time and in with a chance if ready.

3 TURKESTAN - Visser/Yeni. 4-0-1 in 6 c efforts of which 3-0-1 are in 5 over c/d and reported not striding lto when a 7l 3rd to Island Flyer and that was his only defeat on c when Muzi has been aboard. Behind Sir Newton with Khumalo up and 2l behind Sir N lto when not striding and has also previously beaten Sir N 1.5l. All being well, must have a good chance again.

4 CHISLER - Well beaten on c debut over c/d, blinkers go on but not for me until more evidence he performs on the surface.

5 SIR NEWTON - Rugg. Closely matched with Turkestan on a few runs but Brown deserts him today, though his last 2 wins have been under Nhlapo. Last two disappointing but chance if returning to best.

6 DEFENDER OF PEACE - Spies/Chambers. Finally started to show why he has consistently received market support when a running on narrowly beaten 2nd over 1200 lto. Still has to prove himself over this d but if the penny has dropped and the d suits then has a chance. A ridiculously short price imo given known form.

7 QUICK GLANCE - Rugg. 1-0-1 in 3 over c/d (and 5 overall on c) and just ahead of SN lto but that was more probably a poor run by SN who had previously beaten QG by 6l. Not without hope but unlikely

8 FANCY SOME FRENCH - Rugg/Brown. Well supported lto but soundly neaten and seems to be struggling a little for his best form at the moment. Brown up but well held by a couple here and will need a form return before I support him unless a big price

9 WEATHER EYE - Shams. Won his maiden on c debut and not disgraced in 2 subsequent runs finishing a little infront of SN on both occasions. Returns from an 11 week break and another not without a chance and likely to be thereabouts if not quite good enough to win.

10 TO BE HAPPY - 1-0-1 in 15 c runs and no top 3s in 3 d runs. Looks well held and should not feature.

11 GLOBE TROTTER - 0-1-2 in 10 runs over c/d and has a lot to find with Turkestan and others. Doesn't appeal today.

12 MIESQUE'S CRITIC - Rugg. 1-1-2 in 12 on c but no top 3s in 4 rd runs and looks well held. Low weight and drawn 1 but too much to find imo for him to have a realistic chance.

Plenty in with something of a chance and the two Visser runners in particular look strong. Defender Of The Peace nags at me but just can't get involved at the current price, was looking at him more as a decent e/w possibility! To win, no strong fancy but I think I'll chance Tarteeb in the hope the break has freshened him up and he runs well again first run after a rest... TARTEEB x TURKESTAN x DEFENDER OF THE PEACE

RACE 5 - 1600 H'CAP-62

1 LITTLE SWAN - 2-1-5 in c runs and 1-1-1 over c/d. Disappointing last two but 2200 probably too far and blinkers last time. Beaten 1.5l 3 runs back by Tea N You but has a 4kg pull and now has much the better draw of the two. Chance.

2 CIDER APPLE - 1-2-1 in 10 c runs and a silver in 2 ttempts over c/d. Looks held on the runs behind TNY and WingsOAA but not beaten so far. Blinkers go back on after disappointing lto and not without a chance but the 15 draw won't make it any easier.

3 ACTION BELLE - C debut. Won maiden at big odds on her second visit to the Vaal Sand and after a change of trainer and a 12 week rest tries her luck at Bingo. No guarantee she will take to this surface but if the price drifts to 20s or above maybe a small e/w might be chanced.

4 HLAMBA - Shams. Only one third in 5 c runs but usually not beaten far and was only 1.5l behind WOAA over 1400 and now gets a 2.5kg pull. Has 5 top 3s in 8 d runs but none of those places came in 2 attempts over c/d. Not chanceless but imo likely to find a few stronger again.

5 WINGS OF AN ANGEL - Visser/Yeni. Had a few of these behind when winning her second start over 1400 in her penultimate run. Stablemate TNY (reported not striding) gets a 1kg pull for a 1.5l defeat. Since beaten over 1200 and now steps up in d. Has the 1 box and stays the trip, chance again.

6 WOODLAND FIRE - Much improved on second visit to the c having mostly failed on the Vaal Sand. Lto ran second over 1800, 1.5l infront of LS with the latter now 1.5kgs better off. Drawn 3, Chambers up, on 3rd run after a rest. Chance.

7 LADY COZZENE - Miller/MVR. Ran 3rd on debut to Code red over 1200 and following an 18 week rest was a 5l 5th over the same d. Steps up in trip on second run after a rest and has failed to finish in 5 turf runs over this d. Could not support with any confidence currently, watching brief.

8 DARK DOLORES - Shams/W'man. Sand debut. Some ok turf form but nothing in the breeding to suggest she will love the sand and is drawn widest of all. Another who can be no more than a watching brief here.

9 DUCHESS CATHERINE - Won maiden over 1400 at the 8th attempt lto in convincing manner and may be starting to learn the ropes but a big improvement needed again to win here from box 13.

10 CADILLAC BABY - Yet to finish in the top 3 in 9 c runs and has one win in 11 d runs. Not beaten so far in some runs but has a tendency to lose many lengths at the start and does appear to be well held by some of these rivals.

11 TEA 'N YOU - Visser/Khumalo. 2-2-2 in 14 c runs but won only try over this c/d. Beat LS that day by 1.5l but the latter has a 4kg pull. Reported as not striding when beaten 1.5l by stablemate WOAA over 1400 and has a 1 kg pull. Well beaten over 1200 lto but that is possibly too short for her. Decent chance but draw 14 won't help.

12 FANTASY HOSTESS - 1-1-2 in 12 c runs but has not been within 11l of the winner in her last 5 outings. Steps up to 1600 for the first time but beaten 23l and 32l in only two attempts over 1400. Think that telescope might be needed again.

13 BLUSHING GREY - One third in 5 c runs and that came three runs back in her only try over c/d. Has been poor since and was poor previous but that day ran 1.75l behind TNY and with the appie up here enjoys a 7kg pull. Has to be unlikely on all other form but the "talent" is obviously there on occasion and may be worth a small idiot e/w.

14 SHEPHERDS BUSH - One silver in 9 c runs, tries the d for the first time but unlikely it will bring about the necessary big improvement required to trouble the judge.

15 COUNTESS KATE - Reserve. 2-1-3 in 21 c runs, goes this d for the first time but faded badly when 14.75l behind WOAA over 1400. Unlikely.

16 DREAMWALKER - Reserve. Shams. No top 3s in 4 c runs but not so far off a couple of times over this d but has 5.25l to find with TNY though a 5.5kg pull in the weights.

Difficult one to decipher with several having decent claims. One or two could shock but, the Visser runners again look strong candidates, Little Swan has decent claims, if the last two are forgiven, and that must bring Woodland Fire right into the mix if he can confirm the improvement shown lto... WOODLAND FIRE x LITTLE SWAN x WINGS OF AN ANGEL

RACE 7 - 1400 PINNACLE

1 EYE OF THE WORLD - Visser/Khumalo. 12-11-10 in 57 c runs and 2-3-3 in 15 over c/d. Extremely consistent but often finds this d a little too sharp. Has a 3kg pull with KingOM for a 1.25l defeat last time over this d but much depends on how quickly he gets into full throttle. Always has a chance and interesting that Khumalo is up with usual partner Muzi aboard Trade Hall.

2 JACK DAN - Reported lame lto and well beaten in penultimate leaves him something to prove again but decent 4-1-2 record in 13 c/d runs and if back to his best he will not be far away, not to be discounted lightly.

3 KINGOFMOUNTAIN - Miller/MVR. 3-4-2 in 11 c runs and 1-2-0 in his 3 runs over c/d. Lto in a 4 runner field and poorly drawn against stronger in penultimate but prior to that in very good form and beat EOTW by 1.25l 3 runs back, the latter is now 3kgs better off. Decent chance.

4 REBEL QUEEN - Spies/Chambers. 1-0-1 in 4 c runs but they have all been over 1000. Has won on the Vaal sand over 1450 and a very capable sand performer on his day, I think he may well prove to be too good here but difficult to be certain having not yet gone the d at Bingo.

5 TRADE HALL - Visser/Yeni. 4-1-1 in 13 c runs and 2 wins in 5 tries over c/d. Two wins and a silver in 3 runs under Muzi and has a chance though a much tougher test.

6 ISLAND FLYER - 3.75l behind TH lto and is only 0.5kg better off at the weights, stranger things have happened by hard to see a form reversal.

7 VESTAL VIRGIN - Shams. After a promising return to the sand has performed poorly in her last three starts and needs a return to form before confidence can be shown in her again. That said, has the 1 draw whereas she was drawn wide in 2 of the last three, may enjoy the drop in trip and has a light weight. Unlikely but not impossible.

8 KING FERNANDO - Well beaten on c debut over 2200. the blinkers go on and a big drop in trip but nothing to suggest they will make a huge difference.

Visser horses again have very sound claims, Kingofmountain must have a decent chance, Jack Dan can't be discounted and will be right there if at his best while Vestal Virgin perhaps has a squeak. But, I think they will all be fighting for second. I would like more proof but, I have a hunch Rebel Queen might win this with a bit in hand... REBEL QUEEN x JACK DAN x EYE OF THE WORLD

RACE 6... CAPTIVATOR x BILLY'S LEGACY x TRIPARTITE

RACE 8... KING'S GLORY x CHIOVANNI x BREAKSPEAR

RACE 9... SUNLEY SIMOLA x WISPER THE WIND x SIOUX SHE (Idiot... Theory)

Be(s)t of luck to all (tu)
