Unless South Africa follows suit with these developments quite quickly I predict it will be used as yet another 'justification' for not allowing SA horses to travel freely and compete internationally.

Garrick's right ... SA needs to get onto this sharp-sharp. Apart from export problems, hanging back makes us look like stoopid duhs who can't make up our minds to do the right thing. In fact we would be stoopid duhs who can't make up our minds to do the right thing.

Me, I wonder how many youngsters going to the sales get bulked up with anabolic steroids ... after they are sold they would deflate like party balloons. But anyway, too much muscle on soft young bones and tendons can't be good for them and would lead to a lot of them hurting themselves, sometimes permanently.

M we bought a baby at the sales (from a very well known stud) this year. Had him sent to a farm and 3 months later went to check on him. I was so taken back by what he looked like I ask my mate to check his chip. Seriously couldn't believe it was the same animal we bought. Shocking !! Never buy anything from that stud again !! All I can hope is that no damage has been done because what they gave him only they will know.

I have been told by someone that don't usually get involved with rumours that some very dodgy breeders inject a cattle growth hormone capsule just under the horses tail before a sale , usually yearling sales , anyone heard of this ?

The NHRA have been asked by all and sundry to ban Anabolic Steroids. Even the trainers, but have they done anything, NO. I recon we should get signatures and call for a vote of no confidence. After all we are all members.

But why do they endorse steroids? What could their rationale possibly be? Surely cleaner Racing is where we want to go?
