Beware of a Con Man in Equine Industry

Be careful of a guy representing so called Highveld Stud his name is Juan Venter.
He approaches trainers to buy horses that are finished racing to deal on to others , takes horses then doesn't pay for them and canot find horses
Has produce delivered then not there for delivery and promises payment but never does
He has also had horses in training in natal, doesn't pay bills then dumps horses and doesn't pay leaving trainer with debt and horse

Wonder what the NHA will do about this?
There are previous stories of people taken for a ride by ex jock/ trainer but b'cos tracks are covered NHA asking for proof and no action taken in KZN.(td)

Very strange that I come accross this post. As I own a riding school in Alberton and I have to date bought 6 horses from this Juan Venter. And it has been a pleasent experience. We pay money it to trainers account, Juan gets his comm and horses are released. Don't know about other issues. I have not once had any problem with horses from Juan Venter.

Yip Jaap, can you mention names of trainers that he had apparently taken horses from and has not paid. Please I would like to verify this statement. By yourself. As one of his regular clients I thinks I deserve the right to know this. I will also check with him. As I am collecting another horse sold to me by him tomorrow morning.

hi I just want to mention that Yip Yaap has a history of making wild accusations about people with no proof and he hides behind his pseudonym.
I have no knowledge of this Juan Venter but I would think if you have bought 6 horses through him with no problems you should trust your gut feel and not be put of by unproven wild acquisitions from someone who likes to make negative comments about other people and has never supplied any evidence and do not have a positive word for anybody else, the same goes for some other persons on this forum but I must say that most of the posters on this forum is positive and in the majority with negative posters is in the minority
I will probably be getting a lot of flak again from Yip Yaap and company but I can take it.

Some concerns they had,
flogging horses from trainers yards, not paying trainers, not paying transporters, not delivering the correct horses to buyers.
Keeps horses in bad conditions at his property - no money to feed etc.

It is a bit of a habit for people to get hung here prematurely and on hearsay.
