SFR - what a horse

BSA CHAMPION GIVES WORLD CLASS PERFORMANCE
Soft Falling Rain, a former Bloodstock South Africa buy, put up a world class performance to trounce a high-class field by three and a half lengths in the Group 2 Nayef Joel Stakes at Newmarket on Friday afternoon.

Left in the wake of this magnificent champion were the likes of Montiridge (winner of three stakes races in 2013), Premio Loco (16 time winner), Penitent (winner of this race last year), and Glory Awaits (who finished second in the 2013 English 2000 Guineas).

The handsome colt, who was coming off the first defeat of his career, was picking up his first British victory, and, judging by the style of his victory, this is unlikely to be his last!

Soft Falling Rain, who went through an unbeaten campaign in Dubai earlier this year, has now won eight of his nine starts, and looks more than capable of picking up a major prize before he eventually retires to stud.

He has now picked up group/graded races in three different countries, and is a great tribute to the quality of horse being produced in South Africa.

Well done to connections, trainer Mike de Kock, owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and breeders Highlands Farm.

Soft Falling Rain was a R350 000 at the 2011 Cape Premier Yearling Sale. A son of the wonderful Highlands Farm’ sire National Assembly, the Equus Champion 2YO Colt of 2012, is out of the Giant’s Causeway mare, Gardener’s Delight.

His previous major wins include the SA Nursery, UAE 2000 Guineas and Godolphin Mile. In winning the Gr2 Godolphin Mile, Soft Falling Rain, not only became the first 3yo ever to do so, but had to overcome an extremely wide trip throughout the race.

Hopefully, the upcoming Emperors Palace Ready to Run Sale can uncover more future international campaigner!

It's called an infomercial Dave!

We ran the Cape Premier Sale where he was sold and we are very proud of all our graduates.

I hear Budweiser Boy and SFR are being talked about in revered tones...(tu)

Well done lads and ladies.

Sadly, we may not see him in SA again ... this extract is from an article on The National, UAE

www.thenational.ae/sport/horse-racing/so...w-to-higher-standard

"NEWMARKET. ENGLAND // Soft Falling Rain was so impressive in the Nayef Joel Stakes here on Friday that his return to the UAE for the 2014 Dubai World Cup Carnival is now in jeopardy.

The former South African champion blitzed a decent field off a furious pace to set up a crack at the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes next month.

Should he win at the highest level in Europe, race fans who delighted in his UAE 2,000 Guineas and Godolphin Mile victories at Meydan Racecourse are unlikely to see him again.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, the horse’s owner, sponsored the eight-race card through his Shadwell breeding operation, where Soft Falling Rain is likely to retire to should he succeed at Ascot.

“If he becomes a Group 1 horse, he should stay in Newmarket,” the UAE’s Minister of Finance said.

There were some top horses sold out of that sale , and as with any sale there are some horses that will not shine. That is the nature of the game as most people know.

I dont get the infomercial ( all the time from you)

What exactly did bloodstock sa contribute to sfr
Or for that matter to any purchase?
All you do is boast about decent horses bought on your sale and keep quiet on the soup meats
You come on a site dominated by punters and owners and tell us averages are up and we gonna pay more how is that a good thing?

I know you only doing your job and i promise this is not personal, i just dont see the value of bloodstock sa.
