The world record price for a filly sold at auction has been smashed with a sister to 2012 Oaks winner Was making £5.25millions (five million guineas) at Tattersalls in Newmarket on Wednesday.

The sale of the daughter of Galileo eclipsed the previous record of 4.6m guineas paid for Magical Romance at the Tattersalls December Mares sale in 2006.

The latest purchase will be trained in France by Andre Fabre and will be some consolation to jockey Frankie Dettori after his broken ankle as she will race for his new boss, Qatari Sheik Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani.

Galileo ... are any of his get succeeding as sires/dams? In other words, does he look likely to establish a dynasty?

Teofilo has sired 4 Gr1 winners, New Approach has sired 2 including Dawn Approach (4 Gr1 wins).
They also have another 3 Gr2 winners between them and 6 Gr3 winners.
Sixties Icon and Heliostatic have each sired a Gr3 winner.
Total 17 GR winners from Galileo's sons.

His daughters have produced 1 Gr1 winner, 1 Gr2 winner and 7 Gr3 winners.
Total 9 GR winners from his daughters.

That's about 80 x R1m horses in Sa

They still have to prove themselves....but I don't think Coolmore are overly worried about that
