I think Ben Hur is one of the people who don't want GC to succeed?
I think there will an announcement in the near future that will show that we on the right track. What part of SA are you from BH? Which region is run more by accountants? GC or Phumelela?:S

If it was not for the Indian community in Durban we would be in serious trouble with our pools... have a look on course at the attendance ratio and you will get an Idea just how reliant GC racing is on them...

Craig I'm from Kzn and to say that I am willing you to fail is very far from the truth.
I am currently grooming my grandkids for a career in the industry

Which leads to the issue of transformation within the industry

the south african racing industrys success or failure is dependant on the whole country pulling together that includes all who are involved be it phum gold circle kenilworth racing trainers breeders jockeys whoever..it will not be successful in the current climate where everyone is rowing their own boat ..those that think it will be will soon wake up a few years down the line and realise their mistakes as their short term fixes will bring them back to square one and worse off than they were before.....racing south africa has all the statistics which i have been through in regards to the last 7 to 8 years of sa racing and coupled with the latest results from phumelela the spiral is downwards as far as racing is concerned....provincialism will kill the industry ..time to put egos aside and do whats best for the country

Pirates is right. We discussed it at our meeting the other day and we have what we wanted( to be independent and on our own without the Cape and the Cape is happy without us)so now that we have it, we must all pull together for racing. We hope the Cape and Phumelela do really well as it will help everybody.

Guy's my 2 cents. I am a CPT owner and breeder and I would, if I had the choice ,only race in Natal. By far the 'fairest' racing out there !!

Ben
That's good for the game.
Believe in KZN (as far as horse racing is concerned).
Seriously, As a punter and a totally independent person I honestly believe we will win this perceived rivalry .
In any case, I am not sure what you referring to when you mention about the quality of maidens etc.
Maidens have to be raced until a decision is made by owners and trainers alike as to whether certain stock is worth persevering with.

Geyville night racing on a regular basis will push the numbers through the roof....... Please get it right thou, the new track is a huge task & ask but if it delivers the punters will support the extra night racing.

If KZN racing was so good why do they need to close the gates to the visitors. To protect a bunch of horses that should by retired?
If MDK ST and CL had not moved to KZN what would be left?
Remember the problem with bugdets is the people who set them

Spot on Pirates. Our family has been hitting our heads against provincialism in racing now for the last 35 years. Racing can never work in the format it is now, as you rightly mention you can see that via the Phumelela financials. Just the simple fact that people are telling us that KZN racing is tops and got the highest pools and and and.....These things are no longer important. What is important is pulling together and doing what is best for the industry.
I fear we may be smacking our heads up against a brick wall. Unfortunately historically the KZN boys have been the worst..........
