But did she choose, or whas the choice made for her ?

And if the intention indeed was to give the 'lesser (is there such a word?) performing' horses a chance 'in the limelight' (a flawed concept anyway imo), then surely restrictions should have been put in place, e.g. 'no first timers', 'max rated 70', etc.

Only good thing to come out of it imo, is the donations to the charities (tu)

Does anyone how how they selected the maiden fields? In Race 2 Rushmore River has the highest merit rating of 83 and is the 3rd reserve when horses like Recourse, St Martin and Red John get into the race. :S

Cost me R500 to nominate. Fees go to charity. Selections done out of the hat. Some lucky owner will have a huge pay day for his soupmeat.
