1. DUNADEN - French trained. Won 2011 Melbourne Cup from Red Cadeaux. Was bought for Euro 1,500 as a foal. The sire line is the rare Byerley Turk.

2. GREEN MOON - Irish bred. Last year's winner beating the current favourite, Fiorente, by a length. The original rider then, Damien Oliver, was dramatically jocked off at the last minute because of illegal betting accusations.

3. RED CADEAUX - a chestnut, English bred and trained. Ran 2nd to Dunaden in the 2011 rendition. Dunlop says the Irish St Leger flop should be overlooked.

4. SEA MOON - English bred. Is a half brother to Soviet Moon the dam of Workforce.

5. BROWN PANTHER - Bred by Liverpool/Man U striker Michael Owen. One of the grooms was suspended and returned to England after a severe breach of quarantine protocol.

6. FIORENTE - Irish bred. Ran 2nd in last year's cup. Bookmaker Tom Waterhouse was cheesed off because he was not allowed to back his mother, Gai's, trained horse to win a million smackers.

7. FORETELLER - English bred, Aus trained. Has not won beyond 2000m.

8. DANDINO - English bred, trained and ridden. Has won over Aus$ 1 million in six different countries.

9. ETHIOPIA - out of a Spectrum mare. Won the Aus Derby as a maiden but that is his only win.

10. FAWKNER - "You could ride him on a piece of cotton. He won’t pull, breathes perfectly and has a turn of foot" says four-time cup winning Lloyd Williams who has six runners in the cup.

11. MOURAYAN - Irish bred front runner. A $151 chance and who will retire into dressage after the cup.

12. SEVILLE - German bred by Gallileo. Williams said he was primed for Melbourne glory when winning his last start despite being underdone.

13. SUPER COOL - Corey Brown will return from Singapore again to ride him in the Melbourne Cup.

14 MASKED MARVEL - English bred. Only runner to have won a Gp 1 in England when winning the St Leger downing Sea Moon. Was a Euro 260,000 yearling.

15. MOUNT ATHOS - Irish bred, English trained. Ran 5th last year.

16. ROYAL EMPIRE - Irish bred, English trained. Has defeated Red Cadeaux in England.

17. VOLEUSE DE COEURS - Irish bred and now changed trainers from Dermot Weld. A five-year-old mare. Gives the impression she will see out 3200m and has been impressive in Ireland.

18. HAWKSPUR - a chestnut. Did not win a race until his 10th start and has now gone on to win seven.

19. SIMENON - Irish bred, trained and ridden. Ran 2nd in the 4000m Ascot Gold Cup.

20. IBICENCO - German bred. Nothing much on this one.

21. VEREMA - another five-year-old mare. French bred, trained and ridden. Owned by the Agha Khan - green with red epaulettes. On a hattrick. Big spender Williams promptly purchased Verema's travelling companion.

22. DEAR DEMI - a four-year-old mare out of a Zabeel mare.

23. TRES BLUE - Irish bred and now changed from a French stable. On a hattrick. His connections say he is a happy horse.

24. RUSCELLO - Irish bred, English trained, ridden by Chad Schofield (who became only the 2nd appie to win the Cox Plate(. A likely front runner.

Prosperous punting B)-
