positives
11 years 7 months ago
i have been racing for sometime now and am very passionate about my racing.
my trainer is a true Professional, caring, honest and a good judge but the way
hes knocked on the site just shows the calibre of uninformed people on this site.
he makes me proud to be an owner.
instead of knocking the trainers at the Vaal, with all that is said about them lets applaude them for keeping our sport alive and well.
the so called 'SCRAPHEAP" is home of many a good horse and trainer and without doubt- groom
maybe the Vaal is not every ones cup of tea but but i have had many a good winner come from this centre.

I would say Louis is respected as he is prepared to engage and is not afraid to answer questions while the operator (who should be answering many of the questions instead of Louis) remains steadfast in the archaic notion that any view different from theirs is negative and without merit. If Louis ran Racing SA it would be in a far stronger position than it is today.

Welcome RT and txs for the positive contribution as Bob says its not all gloom and doom here, it's just the gloom that gets more press and the blood boiling.
Enjoy!

Having owned horses there, as do many other members, the Vaal has always had problems(as do all training centres) but the Trainers under Louis have always been progressive and worked together to improve conditions for their horses and thus owners.

I have had horses at the Vaal, Turffontein and at the late New Market racecourses. Each one has its positives and its negatives. Personally New Market was the best, that is, for me. I don't like the Turffontein training tracks, and the surroundings as well. But attending racing at Turffies is quite enjoyable.
I enjoyed my trips to the Vaal, stopping at the nearby shop for a quick lunch. The training tracks are excellent, the racing experience in the country atmosphere good, the food below average, and the flies at the stables...
New Market - I enjoyed the lot!
This is MY opinion as experienced by myself.
