What's with the divine cattle, Madji? I know it's a factor with at least some horses, otherwise the form sites wouldn't bother to include it. I'm trying to get some understanding re the why. So far I've got that:
Some don't like a track turning one way (stronger on one lead maybe),
Partially sighted or blind on one side,
Length of the run-in,
and Scottsville is a graveyard for some horses' chances.
I can see with Scottsville why some horses might "die" at the finish with its rather peculiar configuration ... especially in sprints. It's the same reason that the times for sprints are regularly rather spectacular ... the downhill from the start gets them running very fast early, then the last 2 furlongs or so is uphill and they start to puff. In a sprint I always look for a horse that has shown good form over a furlong more than the race distance ... well, it works sometimes.
Any other ideas, specially from the trainers and jockeys on this site? I'm sure they have given this matter a lot of thought, where to race their horses and how to ride them to minimise any weaknesses w.r.t. the track.

Didnt Gatecrasher win at greyville beating Dealers choice by 10 or more lengths ?

Correct Monty, Gatecrasher was versatile over both left and right bends, he did WIN The July after all !!!
However it was his rival Archangel who never won on a left turn so no Guineas, Queens Plate , Clairwood 16OO and Winter or Met on the CV.

Senor Santa did win the 12OO mt sprint beating one......................Senor Smith trained by V Marshall!!!
The Senor still lives happily on the farm at Summerhill where he's the BOSS, as last reported when visited by Scotia.

You're 100% Monty he actually did win his maiden and Natal Guineas with Rhyk Nieuwenhuis beating Dealers Choice (Lesley Mustard) at Greyville but did not win the July...in fact he pulled one of his usual antics at the Greyville course and took Tobie van Booma and Distinctly out on the outside rail resulting in an objection and the race being awarded to Principal Boy...where i was getting confused was that he was unbeaten on a left hand turn, his last start he won the Administrators Champion Stakes beating Sledge Hammer after breaking down in the race..

that match race was never gonna suit senor santa....and besides...if ever any academy wants to use a video od tactical riding,,,they must show this race to the youngsters,,,,was a masterful tactical ride and won by not the best horse
