Just had a wee run in with Betfred, the massive uk bookie that owns the tote among other things..

I deposited £50 to back Hlamba when placing my bet i got a message saying i can have £4.40 at the price and no more at sp,so i obv cancelled the bet and of course she won...

Then i thought maybe it was maybe just a blip so i tried to have £22 on another horse at Plumpton at 5/2 and was refused the bet... so i decided to contact their live chat below....

Funny thing is i have hardly had a bet for weeks/months and i`m definately not a winning punter.

It`s about time i chucked it all together and stick to watching only..

Stan James closed me down as well,i had 2 bets with them both losers

One of them was the Goosen horse that opened 33/1 and returned 2/1 about 2 months ago.. so i can sort of under stand that.

they also stopped offering prices for south african racing after that race ..

Onyerway i think they just want punters to do their cash in the casino games

this just illustrates how fortunate we r here in sa...regarding bookies and stretches....i was told about 5 years ago when overseas ,to go fcuk off when i asked for 28/10 off a 5/2 horse on course....here if i didnt get it...i will get the needle with the bookie ......i know some will argue with me that the bookies here are already betting to 130/140%...so they r giving u something back which should have been yours in the first place.....but that aside.....i see u can get that and more of a stretch on interbet,,,even when they are betting to 110%....also on the exchanges every point is like..1.1....then 1.11...then 1.12....assuming 1.1 represents 11/10....we ask here for 12/10 on interbet....we r spoilt here...mind u the thought process of the bookie that was screwing us earlier....still is happy to give us this generous stretches today

Bob, are you new to this??? DTF has been given accurate stories for months now.

To name but one other who actually closed my account, didn't bother with restrictions, just shut it down on all markets... Stan James. They were good enough to give me a reason though unlike most others... we can't see ourselves making a profit out of you.

I thought the idea of gambling was some you win, some you lose :S

They are killing the game, people are starting to learn that you can only punt to lose and only then if they expect you to lose.

Rob... I have said before, Betfair is not what it once was. For SA races, their prices are often below sp until two minutes before the off, then usually around sp and very limited in the amount you can bet. When you are not interested in a card, have a look at Betfair through the day, it might surprise you how poor it has become relative to what it once was. And they too have seemingly been taken over by the robots.

Rob, sorry, the other point with Betfair, as I sort of just indicated, is you can't get early prices on the exchanges or do multiples... you can on their normal bookies markets (hugely restricted of course). With markets as volatile as they are in SA, getting the price can make a huge difference. Just as a losing example rather than an arm example lol, I liked Space Girl in the last today and got 50s early this morning, obviously much better than the sp of 14s or whatever it ended up.
