Come fly with Me (tu)

Have been speaking with Ricky ( Nicholas Rey) foundation and I think her new venture is very exciting with more details to follow

What do guys ( and girls think ) ?

As I briefly explained to you, we have set up a charter company, called Sky Voyage our aim and vision is to provide a safe and cost effective air transport service tailor made for the various role players of the South African racing participants and enthusiasts. Taking into consideration the amount of race courses throughout the country and the amount of race meetings held daily, the need for this type of service has become a necessity.

Jockeys, Owners, trainers, punters and all other participants currently have to rely on the National airline carriers for access to the various centres and this often is accompanied with various frustrations such as delayed flights, traffic to and from the airports, overnight accommodation expenses and other inconvenient regulated time schedules. It is sometimes then easier not to make the trip…

We must also not forget the limited national carrier flights that are currently available between Durban/Kimberley and Durban/Port Elizabeth. In order to travel to Kimberley from Durban, one often has travel to Johannesburg first and then connect onto a AirLink flight to Kimberley or Port Elizabeth – at an additional cost. This is a time consuming exercise and also very costly. It is also a problem for certain jockeys who participate in these race days as they have to either stay overnight in order to participate in all the races on the card or they have to miss the last few races because they have to catch a flight back.

Our service is guaranteed to save you time, frustrations and money because we offer the following:
Safe and secure free parking at Virginia Airport.
Departure time immediately once all passengers on board
For eg. A flight between Virginia to Vereeniging (Vaal) would be approx 1 hour. (one way)
Same day travel so no need for overnight stays
No waiting time at the airports for check in and boarding times
We land close to the racecourses and transport passengers to and from the airport
No car hire needed and more…

Our service would further benefit the racing industry because more opportunities for jockeys to participate in other centres has become easier.
More People are drawn to the racing centres because it has become “easier”. It is easier for owners and trainers to attend race meetings in other centres as we offer a same day service. If there is multiple centres and race days are back to back, the aircraft will wait for passengers and move to the next destination as required. Everyone can enjoy this time saving way of travelling.

Our routes include:
Durban/Vaal/Durban (Vaal Race Course)
Durban/Kimberley/Durban
Durban/Port Elizabeth/Durban
Durban/Bloemfontein/Durban
Durban/Harare/Durban
Durban/Harare/Kimberley/Durban
Durban/Vaal/Kimberley/Port Elizabeth/Durban
Durban/Rand Airport (Turffonfein Race Course)
Our point of departure routes are flexible and available at any place of arrival.

The Aircraft we use is the Kingair 200 which is a twin Turbine Aircraft powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6A – 41 jet turbo props. The aircraft has a maximum take-off mass of 5 670 kg and can easily cruise at 35 000ft at 536km/h.

The Aircraft is configured to seat up to 8 to 10 passengers and two crewmembers. The KingAir has been in service with many armed forces including the US Armed Forces, Royal Flying Doctor – Australia and the South African Air Force for VIP travel. Each aircraft has a mini bar for refreshments during the flight.

Our pilots and crew are trained and carefully selected to provide a world class service at the highest level and skill. They are subjected to the National and International Aviation Laws, Regulations and Procedures in order to perform their duties in the operation of the aircraft. All our pilots and crew are subjected to regular medical and fitness tests and must hold a valid Medical Certificate at all times. Our pilots are passionate about flying and will do their utmost to ensure your safety whilst providing a relaxed and pleasant experience in a friendly environment.

All maintenance is carried out by the SACAA approved maintenance organisation. All flight engineers are trained and rated to work on the aircraft we operate. The Kingair 200 is subjected to maintenance intervals of 200 hours and all maintenance is logged and maintenance logbooks are available for viewing.

The KingAir 200 is equipped with the latest technology. ILS,VOR , NDB and GPS approaches can be flown to ensure we get you to your destination. Other systems include weather radar for thunderstorm avoidance, TCAS for aircraft separation and radio altimeter for high ground clearance.

I look forward hearing from you and receiving your thoughts…

Have a great weekend
Best regards
Ricky

if the cost of a seat is of no concern to the flyer, then yes, as if the plane only seats 8-10 people its going to cost a fair penny.

Volume based business ...with the aircraft in picture I take it they are targeting a select few.A few years ago the then minister of finance
Trevor Manuel response "do you know anyone looking to buy an airline?" The question was "why is our government continuously pouring billions into SAA?"

As said the price is everything. Cost me R5800+ to fly to Kimberly and back to Durban via Jhb to see the horses at Mauritzfontein. What would that cost? At the moment cheaper to fly to Bloemfontein and hire a car with 200 free kms a day.

Hi everyone. Thank you for taking time to go through the information on Sky Voyage and your comments. I just have to emphasise that we are not competing with the National Carriers as far as prices go. We are offering a service that is for convenience and accessibility. I can also say that the more people using it, the better the prices would be. But in the end, you will save time, and time is money... Prices will be provided
flight is different... ie. type of aircraft, number of people and distance to destination.

We are currently putting together packages for Stud Tours and would appreciate any suggestions.

An example of the service that is on offer to cater within the horse racing industry.

At a Cost of R7250 per person at 8 persons on board the charted flight.

The advantages of this is as follows : Arrive and board at Virginia within 30Min.
One hour flight DIRECT to destination (Kimberly / Bloemfontein)
