race one saturday number 14 tora tora gets scratched at 9.50am today and it is not shown on interbet or any other betting site bar hwood...on the same day at 10.20 am jet belle is scratched and the betting sites take it out the betting including the market leader interbet and new betting is out pronto...race 1 has a new runner the unraced flying spur colt from the woodruff yard and betting world probably unaware of the scratching of tora tora havent priced up on the 1st timer of woodruffs...it is very clear to me that the oddsmaker from the bookies just follows bettingworlds early betting and mite adjust by 5 to 10 percent and follows blindly what bettingworld price up on first timers race 1 today a great example...his job has to be the greatest job in racing as if you can read you can do it...

Having been in the industry I am pretty certain that Bodds in Durban contact the oddsmaker when the scratching has taken place and he then adjusts the betting.

As far as who prices up first Bodds came out first for tomorrows Greyville card and I know Flamingo Park on Monday came out first. I like most punters have to wait for Bodds to disseminate the betting as Bettingworld lay eggs not bets.

On another note Pirates if you want to discuss any grievances you have you should contact Dean Finder who does the betting or Sean Coleman at the Natal Bookmakers Society.

who would want you as a client pal ? (:P) Much easier to punt than lay but if you want to apply for a licence in Cape Town and have a bash go for it. I am sure with your bubbly personality you would be a real hit with the customers !

What must I say you were very very good ! I remember you once klapped us on a place in Flamingo and that was the end of you. In my defense I never quite had the budget of some of the corporate bookmakers who operate today. I tried my best but I just could not compete.

Bookmaking not an easy game, especially a few years back, I also could not compete
Trying to "have a book" only worked in big races and the biggest threat was the other bookies
Some races you could not lay a cent on the fav others you could write a ticket for a million ( guess who normally won )
Anyway just another chapter in life

Good punting and laying

nobody said it was easy but my original posting makes me hacked off as either its pure laziness or it was done on purpose i mean how can you deciminate a scratching at 10 20 before the one at 9.50 and if i hadnt brought it up at 12.30 nothing would have been done ...

Fair question and I can't answer possibly the Summer Cup had a higher profile but the rules should be the same for all races
