Rest In Peace
What a Legacy

Just watching every news channel on TV has made me very emotional.
Just to see the images of him being bundled and loaded into a police van like a sack of potatoes, having tea with the wife of the State President that jailed him......... for what? ..........
........for wanting a vote......ONE MAN ONE VOTE.....thats all.

In my books, the greatest son of this soil, humble, unassuming and committed to unity and peace, was none other than Nobel Peace prize recipient Nkosi Albert Luthuli, under whose I had the honour of growing up and having driven him. Not many are alive who knew or remember him.... a priest, a chief, a family man, and leader of the ANC.

He is the man who penned the Freedom Charter (misunderstood and even discredited by many even within the ANC!) that South Africa, its land, mineral wealth and opportunities were for all of its people.

Ironic, (as someone noted on the blogs 'he survived 27 years in prison and just 3 days of Tolls killed him!'). For whom the Bells Toll?

The supreme irony; what if the funeral procession had to be via the Toll roads! That's not what we fought / struggled for!

Hamba Kahle Mkonto; Tata and Nkosi yam!

Amandla!

It would seem that Madiba read and took Rudyard Kipling seriously..this is so apt..

Give everything but up!

I will have bets on both these horses in the future:

Master of my fate and Captain of my Soul

I am sure they have named the above from quotes from William Ernest Henley's "Invictus"
