January 4th Competition Entry Thread

Venue: Kenilworth ( I far prefer the more competitive Turffontein card with its minor feature races, but at least Kenilworth is guaranteed to race whereas Turffontein may well be weather affected)

Rules

As many entries as you wish provided R200 per entry has been paid up front. (R200 covers you for ONE entry per week for FOUR consecutive Saturdays)

Choose ONE horse to win each race of the featured meeting. A fictitious R100 bookmaker bet at SP for a WIN is placed on your selection.
Example of winnings calculation: R100 @ EVENS will be 100/100 ...returns R194.00(Your stake plus (winnings less 6%)
IMPORTANT: I will be using the SP as recorded on TABGOLD - Run On's webpage www.tabgold.co.za/runons/

Note You don't go into negative amounts. If you pick 9 losers you are just on zero. So there is an incentive to have winners as you then get 'credited' the stake.

The daily winner is the entry with the HIGHEST amount of money. You do not get R100 per race, but R100 per selection so not choosing on a specific race does not 'save' you R100 - (for the smarties out there)

Entries close 30 minutes before the first race. I will be using ABC clock on the thread and PUBLISHED off time of the first race.

Scratched horses are just that. Scratched. You do not save your R100.

Post selections in the format R1 - # and Name (R1 - 10 Polly Shorts)

WHY CAN WE NOT HAVE PLACE BETS AS WELL - PLACE BETS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PART OF THESE COMPETITIONS - PLEASE RE-CONSIDER SHOULD THERE BE MORE CLANNERS WANTING THIS KIND OF BET INCORPORATED.

How about a Bi-Pot and PA as well

I hope the venues chosen will not be weather dependent - because there will always be a chance of rained-out meeting in Gauteng and KZN, so in that case, you might as well state up front that it will be the Kenilworth meeting every week.

So why not consider having the Queens Plate meeting at Kenilworth on the 11th as a definite - leaving the way open for the weekends of the 4th/5th and 18th/19th to alternate between Gauteng an KZN - fair ?

Guys, exotics make controlling the comp more difficult . Can you pick winners .....or ca n you not?

Frodo, I checked the weather for the weekend first before deciding on this weeks competition venue. Believe me I would rather select at Turffontein. First two weeks will be Capw Racing, next two somewhere else.

THE SPECULATOR.....this is a 'bookie bet competition' so we are using fixed win prices. Fixed place prices vary and I have no means of avoiding conflict when allocating winning bet fixed place prices.

Anyone not happy and want to retract their names let me know today please.

For the record I am hoping to be able to announce a prize for the overall winner separate from the buy in.

Only reason why I thought that we could have another venue (not Kenilworth) for this weekend, is because we HAVE to have next week at Kenilworth (because of the Queens Plate) - so some variety in terms of venues - and I don't think it will rain this weekend in Joh'burg - but that's cool if you are insisting on Kenilworth for this weekend as well (tu)
