8 and 10 attracting money on the tote.
Also note that either of these will result in full P6 of R1,6m, while 5 will pay R1,4 m, yet 8 & 10 are paying much less for the tote double
5 double R158. P6 R1,4m
8 double R59. P6 R1.6m
9 double R98. P6 R1.6m
10 double R69 P6 R1.6m
Just curious as to whether there is a relation between the two types of bets, as the payout on the next leg is dependent on the previous result.

Well,if they haven't let the jockey get on the horse it's the starter and the guy with the white flag who are at fault

Best thing to do is abandon the race and all those running in the P6 will be happy.

or should the race have run and Special Occasion been declared a non-runner?

Missed the 6, last minute money on the tote as well, paying R98 for double and R1.6m for P6.
May end up with egg on my face, but cannot understand why the 5 would have a higher double payout than the other numbers mentioned, but have a lower P6 payout.
