Correct Shadley
The figure displayed on 239 is usually the nett pool.

sidali if you take the gross pool less the c/over amount and then take 25% off that amount you will get the net amount.so to answer your question the c/over amount was not taxed.

?.......whether they are fiddling or not......the new rules forcing carry overs is in the operators favor big time......Ialready said in many another thread........they will always have a higher than usual possitive daily balance by not paying out to winners......as it is they are banking more money by now not paying out full carry overs but distributing them to different pools......they have a few bar that they have kept for weeks now to be allocated to the LQP meeting next week......in the meantime several meeting before then that may have this exotic not won......and they will keep rolling that big bank balance......accolades to the operators those many bean counting employees putting their Bcomm to work......pity they lack marketing gurus which is painfully obvious......:

Thanks Winzip,it so simple but when it comes to calculations we need a Chartered accountant to finalise!lol
Anyways gud luk. This weeks racing I am not putting a cent,I think the carry over releigh team will continue till the Queens plate, just my gut feel,so if playing gud luk.

As far as i am aware the carry over is carried forward onto the new pool and the take out is only on the added new pool amount.I hope im right otherwise its blatent theft.
When you analyse the take out with our racing operators, they are excessive ,theft i feel.
Racing take out on exotics are 25% which if your base amount is R100.00 after 7 bets in mathematic terms would reduce
you to R7.50 so your tax payment would be R92.50
On Sport at a take out of 33% you are in big trouble for R100.You after only 6 bets would be down to R9.04 and gold circe or Phumelela wouldget R90.96.When the take out was changed it was at Phumelela's insistence and Gold Circe could not bet on sports for a lengthy period,so you know who the culprit was.
Betting with a bookmaker on racing at an average of 10% take out for R100 would give you 22 bets before you ended up with R9.84.Tax to Province of R90.16.
Sports Betting with bookmakers NO TAX.The bookmaker pays tax to the province on his profit but can subtract any losses carried forward as they dont win on sport every month. The only negative is the limits imposed by some bookmakers but if you shop around there are some who dont have limits.
Think before you bet.
It has been proved that punters around the world will be more as the take outs drop,so only the greedy operators can adress their problems and stop bleating about the bookmakers take what they deam is their turnover
