The above illustration is the gross pool vs net of the p6 pool for Turfontein dated 04/01/2013 which included the R500000 carried over :
What the above-mentioned means is that the R500000 carried over is ,first included in the gross pool & then taken to the net pool. The implication of the 1st step is that the R500000 carryover figure is depleted by 25%,meaning that from the R500000,25%(R125000) goes back to the tote & the actual figure being carried foward into the net pool is R375000 & not the R500000.
The big picture implication of the above-mentioned is that each time there is a carryover amount, the tote will score 25% from the carryover amount & only 75% of the actual carryover figure will reach the net pool of whichever racemeeting,it is carried over into & in whichever denominaton the amount is carried over in.
The above has a further implication. When the p6 rules were changed to exclude couplings,it made it possible for carryovers to become more frequent. The more frequent the carryover the greater the profit for the tote.Another example would be the R2000000 the tote intends to carryover into the p6 pool on 11 January 2014.From that R2000000,25%(R500000) will go into the totes’ coffers & only R1500000 will reach the actual net p6 pool.
If one considers that ,if on any given raceday, the net p6 pool is won by @ least 1 punter, the whole amount in the net pool will go to the 1 punter. So,why is the tote, being allowed to deplete the carryover amount by 25%,when there is a carryover into another days’ p6 pool.If the tote intended for a few punters to win a dreamily huge amount, the so to speak “dream bet” why are they not carrying over 100% of the carryover amount into the net pool,on the racemeeting it is being carried over into.
What all this means is that rules were implemented to create a greater opportunity for carryovers. Each carryover will result in an instant 25% profit of the amount that is carried over,in favour of the tote.In addition, remember, who it is that are responsible for the acceptances of horses in each race that form part of the p6 legs. You will have observed the bigger, more open fields,in each leg of the p6.
Each person that is contributing to the p6 pool but not winning at all is simply adding to the p6 pool with no hope of recovery. With all this in mind,You decide whether you want to continue to support this bet by adding to a pool you have little control over & that little control is limited to how much you put into it!

Surely the Carryover should be put in after they have taken their chop, as it comes from the Nett Pool ???
Any comments from Phumelela?

The correct and purported way is to add after....(or up front to boost the pool to attract more spend) and then take their 25% from the gross pool mibnus the carryover.
Of course, I do not know what audit trails are available for scrutiny

The carry over amount is added to the pool after the new pool is taxed....
Give everything but up!

how can this be so when the carryover amount is already in the pool?

The carryover is usually part of the net pool already as they are display it. The question is whether on the incoming money is taxed as the pool grows. This is dependant on how they have set up the software.

...but if there is a further c/o then how do we know that it's not being taxed again before redistribution to the next one?:S

The mere fact you are attempting this bet means you are a gambler & not an investor IMO irrespective of the payout being "illegally" depleted (or not)...your probability of catching It is already "exotic"
