Race 5 – 4:10 – 32Red.com Fillies Handicap – class 5 – 4yo+(0-70) – 5f216y
Barbs Princess has won 2 of her 8 starts and wasn’t disgraced on her track debut last time over course and distance finishing 3rd. The form is working out well and she rates as the one they have to beat. Dodina (IRE) was well supported on her debut for Brian Ellison last time over 7f. The drop back to 6f looks a positive after travelling like the best horse in the race last time and it will be interesting to see how she fares in the betting today. Layla’s Oasis has claims on her best form but she doesn’t win often enough. Richard Fahey’s runners are starting to hit form and she is one to consider. Lapis Blue (IRE) is a 4 race maiden that is worth a market check on her handicap debut.going to give anther chance to Dodina at 3/1
Race 6 – 4:40 – 32Red Maiden Stakes – class 5 – 3yo – 7f32y
Anjin (IRE) is a half brother to the smart The Fugue that will have learned plenty from his debut at Lingfield. He was allowed to go off at 33/1 suggesting that wasn’t to be his day and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the betting today as strong support has to be noted. Jeagar Train (IRE) was well supported on debut but was let down by his inexperience and had to settle for 2nd. He is sure to have learned plenty for the experience and with the extra furlong sure to suit he is one to consider. Excellent Royale (IRE) was sent off favourite for his handicap debut last time at Lingfield. He was a fairly disappointing 5th and he will need to improve to win this. Marweena (IRE) is worth a market check on debut as she makes plenty of appeal on paper. She is a half sister to the smart Lady Of The Desert and her dam was no back number either. Marmande (IRE) is also worth a market check being a half sister to 2 yr old winners Squires Gate, West Leake Diman and Colmar Kid. She is by Duke Of Marmalade who is 3/9 over course and distance with his progeny.
Race 7 – 5:10 – 32Red Casino Handicap – class 6 – 3yo(0-60) – 1m1f103y
Masterpaver is stepped up in trip having looked short of tactical pace over sprint trips. He comes into this on the back of a decent 2nd at Southwell and with Robert Winston having a 20.51% s/r when riding for Alan Bailey everything looks set for a big run. The only negative is Alan Bailey has only a 4.76% s/r with runners turned out within 14-52 days in January over the past 5 years. Jayeff Herring (IRE) didn’t show a lot in 3 maiden runs but is of interest on handicap debut stepped up in trip. He is a half brother to course winner Blue Cossack and is one to consider. Blossom Lane is bred to be much better than a 55 rated handicapper and it would be no surprise to see an improved effort stepped up in trip. He is by New Approach who has a 25% s/r at Wolves with his progeny and he is very much of interest especially if strong in the betting. A tricky race to call with all of these having something to prove.Going to take a chance on Masterpaver at 10/3
