Racing Punters ....

are they respected/valued by the racing industry?

What can be done to improve the product?

What can be done to compete with sports betting?

What can be done to improve the information available to punters?

Can anything be done to make sure the industry is regulated better to protect the punter?

If this post was done by a Phumelela/RA/Gold Circle/NHA representative would be fare more significant.

1. Racing in SA is seen as even more immoral than in the 80's and before. It is also is seen as "uncool". Something needs to be done to mitigate this "immorality". I do not know what. Except for the UK this may be a global trend.

2. A turnover strategy needs to be found where the tote's takeout can be reduced together with an increase in stakes. Are there too many races?

3. Save for a few of the big races many of the stakes races are being incestly sponsored eg stud farms, breeding associations, etc. Heading for an implosion unless "new" money is found.

lots can be done. Some can be implemented immediately, others need a long term change route. We've had these discussions on this forum before and clanners gave many good solutions and suggestions. But it is up to the operators and NRA to listen, take on board, and implement some of the suggestions.

Bob, are you doing this thread cos you have been nudged to do so?

If not, as I have said to a few recently, this head can only take so many bruises and eventually the lack of a listening ear turns many of us to the dark side of negativity and moaning. Not because we want to but the consistency of good ideas or good questions etc that get churned out repeatedly on this forum but get no response and with no apparent action taken turns people that way.

Get those directly involved to interact, sling out anyone who is rude or deliberately inflames and then start such a thread. Pointless imo at the moment.
